OR, was he joking when he said "- actually I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here......I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I am speaking! ?

I'm a mom, actually a gramma now. I've been in the situation(s) of a baby crying in the audience when there's a speaker.

I've experienced when the speaker stopped, requested an usher assist the mother, waited calmly until the mom was taken care of. Then proceeded.

There is a right way to handle it. Trumps antics were childish.

There is no defense of his actions.
