Hello, I’m Russ Kick, Creator of The Memory Hole, Ask Me Anything.

I like documents. I like governmental and corporate documents that reveal what’s really going on. In 2000, I was working on the first anthology I edited for Disinfo – You Are Being Lied To (which was Disinfo’s first book). It crystallized a thought I’d been having for years: so many important official documents have already made their way into the world but have been ignored or forgotten. It was more than I could work into a book or even several books. I wanted to give lots and lots of documents a home, so I decided to create a website. Soon, I was getting more documents released through Freedom of Information Act requests, and I was also rescuing a lot of documents that were being pulled offline, usually from government websites.

The original site was The Memory Hole (2002-2009). I recently started the sequel site: The Memory Hole 2, along with a very active Twitter account covering the same areas (FOIA, transparency, important documents).

This is a pleasant surprise! I'm became a huge fan of the Disinfo books after I finished reading "You Are Being Lied To." In fact, I contribute sometimes to disinfo.com.

I would say the military's photos of the flag-draped coffins had the most impact by far, so in that sense they were the most important. Beyond those, I'm pretty fond of the many documents on chemical and biological warfare in the US, and the new docs on the federal govt funding studies into the *benefits* of cannabis and its components. That surprised a lot of people (including me).

Do you ever fear of retaliatory measures being taken by the gov or any "goons" for the information you have published? Have you ever been threatened or coerced into not sharing information?

Sibel Edmonds was the Turkish translator for the FBI in the early 2000's. She has done outstanding work within the whistleblower community. I linked you to her website.

She has done extensive research in something called Operation Gladio B which the Gulen Movement is a huge part of. It is a deep state NATO operation that has many tentacles. It is their next step following Operation Gladio A in Europe.

But in the end I couldn't resist the lure of those forbidden government documents. Hey, Russ. Three documents I've seen personally and have wondered for years if anyone had snatched a copy of:

1. US Navy manifest showing shipment of gas to Iraq.
2. Microsoft/HP/IBM (among a few others) meeting PowerPoint presentation on how to lay Americans off slowly and more or less under the radar with as little blowback as possible as they conspired to ship U.S. jobs offshore.
3. Chinese back doors into the code that runs our DoD satellite systems.

ETA: Sorry to hear about the mold thing. That can be a really long and winding nightmare...been there when my car tried to kill me.

The thought has always been in my mind, but as far as I can tell, there hasn't been any retaliation. I did get an email from the military (might've been the Coast Guard IIRC) asking me to remove a document about a port on the East Coast. I just ignored it and left the document up. Also, I did get some violent threats from individuals when I posted the photos of the flag-draped coffins. But that's been it.

Ah, a fellow mold survivor. There are lots of us out there.

Thanks for the tips about documents you've seen. I'm not aware of these being available, so I'll do some further searching and if I don't see them, I can file a FOIA request at least for #1. The second one is a corporate document, which are much harder to obtain. I wish there were a FOIA for corporations - that would be a dream come true. As far as #3, I can try FOIA or Mandatory Declassification Review (MDR) requests, but I'm betting they'll never, ever release those documents.

Thanks for the link. I have to admit I'm not up on all the nuances of the US nukes in Turkey, but it does lead into one of my long-running peeves - the (mis)handling of nuclear weapons in general. So many mistakes, laxness, and just plain stupid ideas (e.g., housing nuclear weapons in unstable countries)!

My sense is that love of power and money unites elites around the world. It's much more important to them than things like ethnicity, national boundaries, etc. That said, any united group of people can still have their squabbles, cliques, internal dissension, so some of the conflict is genuine. But in the end they're all buds. We see it on a smaller scale with Trump and Clinton acting like they hate each other when they and their families are good oligarchical pals.

How do you feel about what is currently going on with the us government and how They are continuously lying and covering things up?

Are there any measures you are taking to ensure your safety or your family safety? I guess what I'm trying to say is do you have a Fallout plan when everything goes south
