I rotated home to the States a year ago.

China's 'backyard' shouldn't consist of constructed islands with a 'sudden' 12 mile zone.

They take with one hand and give take with the other. They're gonna get one of their hands cut off playing like that.

In a war both sides will feel losses. China versus the US, Australia, and Britain. Well I clearly see China being denied access to trade routes. How long can they feed themselves if they lose all shipping. How long can China survive with their finished good piling up on their docks and no incoming raw materials.

Attacking Australia is clearly the worst move on the chessboard.

Is Kim Jong Un in charge of China's media arm? Saber rattling at best. They aren't going to screw with a Commonwealth nation. Hell, their navy can't even compete with India's.

The reality is scary, the Chinese are saying that by 2025 they will be able to match the US in military?

I wonder if something has to be done sooner than latter, almost asking for it arnt they.

Bad times ahead

The only real harm they could immediately inflict upon Australia is economic. Even then, Australia will find eventually find other buyers to fill the gap left by China.

Military conflict is a different nature, but i don't suspect China could do much unless they island hopped like the Japanese did in WW2. It didn't work out well for them, and i doubt any military conflict would work well for China too, considering most other Asian nations are opposed to them - not to mention the USA and other oceanic states as well.

Talking to an old guy today and after discussing the China vs Australia topic he matter of factly stated that he wouldn't be surprised if part of the big plan was to distract and lure China into a fight with Australia all the while attack it from behind. Most Countries can't project their military on 2 fronts and China would easily be beaten if it had a large portion of its assets here in Australia trying to hold the Country.

I put China in the same basket as North Korea though, talk big and tough but no actions to back it up. Not saying I'm goading them or would even remotely like the situation to arise but I can't count how many times Asian Leaders make really bold statements and do nothing eg - Indonesia.

you know that's something i have never understood. why the U.S., Australia or anybody else keeps on doing business with china after they repeatedly threaten to blow them off the map.

someone threatens me that's it no more anything to do with them, debt, trade or what have you.

It would only take 1 EMP to take us back to the stone age mate, I watch my kids addiction to electronics and often wonder how many days it would take without the internet would it be before one attempted suicide.

Nothing is really that clear cut anymore.
WE won't fire first but they have no right to be there.

you know they have threatened the U.S. with destruction before the island deal. way back in the late 90's and early 2000's
over taiwan and japan, the south china sea is just the latest.

We have more systems available to our military than we know...THEY USUALLY don't even turn them on unless there's a war so they don't expose the systems.
If they launch I bet we can knock them down.
I also bet they will then be in the same position as GERMANY after WWII.
A month if that long.
They don't think we'll do if they bully us.
THEY forget whom they address ,THE largest scale political experiment on the planet, NOTHING ever seen before, manned by a schizophrenic brain ,enforced by cowboys, and steered by hard cash.... YEAH I want to shoot at that...not.
