I was wondering what fellow ATS/BTS members think about british music, and how it seems that the best stuff is coming out of there.

I mean think about all the great bands that have come out of there:

Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
The Who
Coldplay
Radiohead

There are many more. Has anyone ever noticed this? or is it just me.
It seems their pop culture is also very different than ours. We have Britney spears and they have radiohead. I want our pop culture to be like theirs.

Yeah like half of my music collection is from UK and I'm from the US... I love The Beatles, The Who, and other bands from the UK.

not forgetting

Happy Mondays

Echo and the Bunnymen

The Stranglers

and the legendary David Bowie.

really the list would be endless. Apart from the England team playing football the only other thing that makes my patriotic pride swell is our music.

i would say the brits have ruled the music scene worldwide since the 60s and i cant see that changing in the future.

we rock.

Led Zeppelin ripped off some of the greatest 30s blues musicians without ever giving credit where it was due.

Psychedelia was an American phenomenon commercialized in the UK with Pink Floyd and The Beatles being late entrants.

Never underestimate the contributions of The Stooges or The Thirteenth Floor Elevators.

Music knows no national boundaries - why subject it to parochialism like everything else?

All quality bands there (check my avatar!). A few more cracking new british bands are:

Razorlight
Babyshambles
Libertines
Kaiser Cheifs
Dead 60's
The Ordinary Boys

There's also a fair amount of good music coming from the other side of the pond too, with the Killers, Futureheads, The Bravery.

With all the good music coming out at the minute, it feels like the best time for music since the mid 90's!
