Ok, tomorrow is the day that President Bush is officially honored with his second. There is more than a little speculation that an assassin may rear his/her ugly head.
Here is the question - Do terrorists actually want to assassinate President Bush?
Do they view Cheney as a better answer for them?
Do they think that Bush is "killing himself" with the American public?
Would taking Bush out, actually hurt the Terrorist cause? The American public for the most part view Bush as a buffoon, and are starting to second guess him, as well as the Mid East crisis.
That being said, is Bush the safest man in the world when it comes to terrorist threat?

Id guess he is the safest guy in the world right now. Not for lack of want however. Just out of brute force and effort.

But as much as people hate him (around 50% of the US’s population) an assassination on him would only unite the people of the US and many other countries against terrorism.

I don’t think assassinating High Holy King George would help anybodies cause to much.

Having said this however, I don’t think it makes a difference to the people who would go through the effort to try it. The act itself, no matter what the following consequences would be, would be worth it to them. Even if the aftermath was unpleasant for them or their people.

Yeah that's kind of my point. If the people of the US unite - like they did right after 9-11, then the government could do basically anything they wanted. Remember RIGHT after 9-11? The unity of the people in thiscountry was beyond compare. We would have allowed basically anything the government wanted to do to actually happen without question. I believe that anything that were to happen would be extrememly detrimental to the terrorist organizations. No matter what it is that you believe about the terrorists, don't ever underestimate their intelligence. Many of the leaders are educated far beyond myself, a whole lot of PHD's, and the like in their educations. Are they so stupid as to try and do something.

The only "terror" that will be present tomorrow is....

the 100's or 1000's of people who will show up to not show thier support for our president.

That's right, the protestors, who will waive thier signs, turn thier backs, etc.

However, that's what's great about America, we're free to do that very thing....

God Bless The USA !!!

Although I agree with your post, you do know that any protestors tomorrow will be confined to special areas far away from the actual event. Thats hardly free right to protest.

Amen brother! This is the most awesome nation ever. I don't necessarily agree with the politicians who run it, but I love being an American.

By the way - the EAGLES are going to the Super Bowl - the Steelers are going down!

Actually, that is free. Alot more free than most countries, other countries if you did such a thing you would be jailed automatically and in some cases shot as long as their is no TV around to advertise it to the world.

And terrorists know better than to take action on the President, it would be their downfall. Like said before, look who the successor would be and the support of the American people. If anything does happen it will most likely be a pissed off American, who will only make it worse, if anything the terrorist should be plotting to prevent something like that happening. Weird eh?

Tomorrow as our nation prepared for a second term of a man that thinks itself "Godsend" people that will not agree with his policies will march down to "restricted pens" to voice their disappointment.

While some of the most daring ones will disregard the ridiculous guide lines of exercising our civil rights, and will be submitted to all kind of violations of constitutional rights and civil rights.

This people that would only be on their own rights will be also targets of being killed for becoming a "threat to the government"

Please people be careful if you plan to go and protest and please Bush is not worth a true American's life.

Wow, interesting thought Marg. Not out of the realm of possibilities I'm afraid.

that's right.... Put the people who are supporting our President on the front lines.... give the other people the other areas...

they are still being given the freedom to demonstrate...

That's what's so great about this country - love 'em or hate ' em, we have the freedom to voice our opinions. Heck just look at this board as a whole - how many countries would allow this type of board to exist? Not too many that's for sure.
And lastly how many countries would allow a Steelers fan to post!

Sorry Elevated, I couldn't resist.

You're allright!

So what do you think will happen tomorrow? Do you think there will any sort of bad things going down, or do you think that everything will be ok? I pray that nothing happens, but I have a bad feeling that somethings coming. Almost like an impending doom.

"Steelers fan"??? Whats that? I have never heard of one of those.

I mention I live in New England? Maybe 30 minutes from Gillette Stadium?

Nope, never heard of a Steelers fan....

Yes poor Elevated is a misguided soul I'm afraid. Looks like it's going to be Eagles/Patriots in the big game. Skip, we have so much to teach him.
For what it's worth their is plenty of room on the Eagles bandwagon!

for the record.... I'm not only a Steeler fan, I'm a seasoned fan...

I didn't just "jump on" once the winning began...

Been cheering for the Black and Gold since I was 8 !!!

I don't know how old you are, however the Steelers have a pretty good record for Super Bowl wins - do you remember the Steel Curtain? Like you I've been an Eagles fan since I was a youngster, and have endured an awful lot of pain - the Eagles have NEVER won a superbowl. Not once. And they've only been to the Super Bowl once. they were smoked by the Raiders........ I never stopped being a fan for an instant though. This is the year.
I think that *swallows hard and looks around to make sure no one is listening* the Steelers have a long proud history.

Anyway back on the subject - what do you suspect will happen tomorrow if anything?

I think nothing will happen tomorrow.... I'm not a big fan of Bush but I dont want to see anything happen to him . I agree that right now a terror attack would most likely happen when no one is expecting anything and be much worse than 9/11.

Also I'm Canadian and have no NFL team to cheer for....so I might as well cheer for the Steelers as well.
