I think people may think this will help Trump, but I expect it could help knock Hillary out as DNC Candidate to be replaced by Bernie Sanders. This could very well lead to Bernie Sanders getting in a race with Trump. If so, this election season will have definitely gone where none had gone before.

Incidentally, he does make it clear that these documents are from the DNC, not the State Department. The FSB won't release those out of force of habit.

(How do we know that anything he releases is "pure?" How do we know it hasn't been altered? This is a real question. Perhaps there are forensics that can be done?)

He is absolutely interfering with the election, and the people that don't care here are blinded to it because it serves their own bias. I wish they would forget that it's about Hillary, put it into a neutral narrative and see that our election process is being interfered with not just by this weasel of a man, but by those who pull his strings.

People say "the ends justify the means" while failing to see that the "means" are a psyop and attack on our country. If she is NEVER "arrested" people here will believe fervently (because bias) that she DESERVED to be, even if there is NO REAL EVIDENCE.

The real goal may be to delegitimize a Clinton Presidency. We should think about that, because it is an attack on our Democracy, and an attempt to fan the flames of discontent that are already burning, and to sow disruption and further deadlock. Putin wins the new cold war.
