I've come to find out that 90% of the denominational churches are amilinnialist in nature as daughters of the RCC and don't believe in a literal, physical return of Jesus Christ to rule and reign on Earth. Martin Luther did a great job rescuing Soeteriology from Roman Catholicism, but the Protestants didn't go far enough in rescuing Biblical Escaetology from the Catholic Church.

As a Worldly person, I view the 90% as a good thing.

Once upon a time, I was Pre-millennial. I moved, and ended up in an AMillennial Church. Oh the jokes I endured!

Like:

"You know what Scatology is don't you? Well that's what I think of Eschatology too!"

"I'm a Panmillenialist. I believe that everything will pan out in the end."

Anyway, probably beyond the scope of this thread.

Lol, that's sad, why joke about people who take the Bible literally? 😂😂👍

It's not even a biggie in the grand scheme of things, it's totally not a primary doctrine.

it's totally not a primary doctrine.

Except for certain evangelists for whom it is the only doctrine.

Well, I meant in the context of primary doctrines like Soeteriology, Ecclesiology, Theology Proper, the Trinity, et cetra. If a person's specific emphasis as a teacher is end times matters, that's generally their major passion of study, know what I mean? Example, Dr. Joyce Meyer primarily studies and teaches on women and relationships, she isn't too interested in Daniel, the Antichrist, and who the 7 headed beast of Revelation is.

What drew me into Christianity as a young man was end times study, prophecy, Revelation but that was me, what was your initial drawing force to the Bible or Christianity when you first started to follow Christ?

Belonging to a person and group. No longer an outsider. That sort of feeling.

ETA

In the bottom of one of my trunks, I have a book that belonged to my Paternal Grandmother's Father, when he was preaching the soon (as in next week) return of Jesus. It lists all the prophecies and states how one after another has been fulfilled, so next week-ish.

When I was young, I was mowing the lawn for an old lady. She said, "You are lucky to be young, you will live to see the Lord's return. I've been waiting all my life. Now I don't think I'll live long enough to see it, but you will because you're young !"

But now I'm as old as that old lady was.

That's interesting, in theology it's called the "doctrine of imminency". I think when you look at the details, He says you won't know the day or the hour, but will know the season. The problem is western culture sees prophecy as prediction, then fulfillment, to the Hebrew mind, and to a lesser extent, Eastern culture prophecy is patterns, types and shadows.

Like Hitler and Nazi Germany, or even Nero in the first century, they were types and shadows of the coming antichrist and beast empire so when people see it, they're like "here it is!!! This somewhat fits perfectly!" and having the frame of mind of prophecy from a Greek mindset, prediction hen fulfillment, and not viewing the events from the perspective Jesus had that it's a type and shadow of the event to come.

I think he means the 1000 year reign on Earth, like the vision in Daniel 2.

Yes thank you
I was more inquisitive about the word "delayed" than the 1000 yr reign and Christs return, on board with that

I think I just found out I am a panmillianinst, thats good to know
