Let me guess.... American. We don't play the way you guys do. Enlightenment has been achieved in much of the world. Join us. It's WAY better than the 50's. This might require time travel though. Do you have Gravol?

Howard Stern wasn't able to get a gig in Canada, not because of his colourful language, but because of how he talks about people. Swearing, cursing, totally allowed.
Hate speech - not allowed.

its cool, im almost choked on my tea tho, lol, thot maybe our new selfie pm passed a new law to appease some other idiotic blah blah blah group.

sorry too, no offense.

I believe each situation is different when it comes to free speech, this comedian was hateful and making comments about the boy dying. I don't believe complete strangers tragedies, especially a childs, should be fodder for abuse at the hands of some asshole trying to make money because hes a crappy comdian that is not funny.

And the above statement is exactly the kind of flawed logic that causes censorship and a rampant authoritarian Government that thinks they can decide who can say what and when. One more step to complete Fascism and the 4th Reich. I thank GOD we have our Constitution in the U.S. and the Bill of Rights.

Thank you for the info.

Sorry if I was wrong about the animal sex thing-but I swear that I read it very recently.

Must have been someone trolling.

Our national animal is the beaver, so the jokes kind of write themselves 😕
But sex with one, or the porcupine, definitely not legal, or very wise..

Yeah. We have actually been around longer that you. See Nordic exploration. 500 years before the Italian. FEAR is also a thing we don't ascribe to.
And we are harmed by not having America's Constitution? What arrogance.

How can all of you comment without knowing what the comedian said?

There is comedy and there is a verbal attack.

Until you find out, you can't comment with any validity.

So, what did this comedian claim was just a joke.

Jokes I can take, hate, not so much.

P

It's American Exceptionalism not arrogance and yeah, you need your rights protected because of exactly the BS that this OP is about. I literally can't conceive of arguing FOR censorship and actually being proud of it...I can't imagine what horribly flawed logic creates that kind of dissonance in a brain.

yes we have a right to free speech, but with it comes responsibility, this comedian is a pc of # for the disgusting comments he made.

a comedian that can only call humiliating, disgusting so called jokes about a facially disfigured boy comic material should seriously look for a new line of work.

he deserves the fine and a punch in the face a millions times.

and NO BEASTIALITY is not legal in this country, wtf

Good for you.

I agree with you.

I do not support unlimited free speech.

The idea that you can just say anything you want about someone is not OK with me.

Do the world a favor and keep that crap at home please. The world doesn't want it as much as you may think we do.

BINGO!!!!! You don't get that other countries might actually defend minorities. Kill hate speech. It's a "world" thing. Ya''ll will catch up n about 50 years. Maybe. In the mean time leave us the F alone please.

we have a charter of rights that protects people from the kind of so called free speech this comedian was spewing, it is put in place to protect individuals from discrimination to their person.

How the hell is making fun of a facially disfigured disabled person free speech, in this country its called bullying, if he wants to say it in private to his friends, fine, doesnt make him any less of a dickhead in my opinion, but when he goes on stage in front of an audience of people and collects money for cracking tasteless hurtful jokes about a disabled kid, and wondering why the kid isnt dead yet, yeah sorry, he can't use his free speech pass in place of bullying.

don't like it, tuff #.

Thanks Annee, I appreciate that, unfortunately some people don't see or feel that there are bounderies with free speech that shouldn't be crossed, not realizing that once they cross that line its a different territory.

There is alot of material up for comedic grabs, disabled kids are way off the radar.

Thank you again

I am literally GLAD that I will be dead and won't have to see a world where censorship is celebrated. Freedom is my religion and censorship is my blasphemy. I would much rather you called me all kinds of things than live in a world where freedom is gone.

Why do you live in Canada, though? Why not immigrate to North Korea? It would suit you much better.

Just wait. I've seen Albertans saying that they will move to the States if Trump is elected. Good riddance and goodbye imo.

You can cry to mommy when you get offended now

Well that's confusing.

But don't cry when they come for your freedom of speech as well

Where do you live? We don't have that in Canada.

Actually, you do. That's like saying you don't have breathing in Canada. You're a human being, you're born with it. It's just there.

Exactly. Except we don't need the government to force him out of business. People do it by not supporting him.

It's not about this guy's ability to spew hate speech

It's that you expect the government to use force to silence people you disagree with. You don't realize that you can actually stop this guy if you stop giving him an audience? Seems like Canada actually likes this guy and his jokes considering he was making money with his comedy. So what does that say about your so-called "enlightened" society?

Even worse is that you allow yourself to actually be offended by this idiot and his joke

This is a travesty to Canadians. Freedom of expression is one of the most suppressed human rights in the world, and Canadians are letting it happen here at home without a peep. Shame.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental right in the Charter of rights and freedoms. But you might have known that if you had read it. Do you disagree with the fundamental rights of your own country's charter? Don't like it? Tough.
