thought you might like this, seeing how we went off topic some. but this one is pretty close. it's what folks call southern rock and there's quite a few bands in that genre from the 70's and 80's

Morning Dew. Here's Devo's version:

Since Morning Dew is more post-apocalyptic than an actual war song, here's one in german: Hundert Mann Und Ein Befehl

even though i didn't like to much of their music here's another one.
most people think it's about ptsd, but according to the writers it's about thoughts of the solders during the war.

Wow, thanks for a rocking thread so far everybody.

We've had a lot of great songs about total war, as well as some of the more subtle "metaphoric" wars in society (the struggles of the anti-war movements, class struggle, lgbt struggle, the war against HIV/AIDS, and the "war" between the sexes).

Great though-provoking stuff of what conflict and struggle mean to different people.

Peter Tosh - No Nuclear War.

Wow, a great new song to me.

Civil war is especially terrible to my mind, because you could be fighting people you were raised with.
Literally your "brothers".

Reminds me of The Irish Rovers - Two Little Boys (Did You Think I Would Leave You Dying?).

This one by Nine Inch Nails gets under my skin every time I see it. It's dark as f*** and disturbing in a way that makes you think.

yea i'd hate to have to fight against my brothers in a civil war. even though when young we fought like cats and dogs.
my mom use to call us tom, jerry and spike. but couldn't nobody mess with my little brothers but me.

seeing your last post reminded me of a the 45's my parents bought us when i was about 6 or7, we played that thing everyday that summer, and for a few years afterwards.

they also got us these

the guardmen got back together for this one. not as good as the others but it work.
