CLEVELAND — A longtime employee of the Trump Organization took responsibility for lifting two passages, from a 2008 speech by Michelle Obama, for Melania Trump’s address on Monday at the Republican National Convention, saying that it was an innocent mistake.

she goes on to say that she asked melania who influenced her and she said michelle obama...

“In working with Melania on her recent first lady speech, we discussed many people who inspired her and messages she wanted to share with the American people,” Ms. McIver wrote. “A person she has always liked is Michelle Obama,” she added.

from what i understand mr trump has refused to accept her resignation stating that everyone makes mistakes.

keep in mind, if this happened to the hillary campaign, im sure this person would have ended up falling from a 10th story window at a hotel, or with 2 self inflicted bullet wounds to her head.

i know nothing about trump, and believe very little about what is reported.

as a businessman, this seems legit. especially the part about not firing her. Its a little mistake, in the grand scope of things. A businessperson should be loyal to the team that they want loyalty from. Plain and simple.

I would love it if she said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"

Porn site servers would go into meltdown.

I gotta say, every political speech we hear now is basically the same BS the last guy said. Empty Promises.

My guess is this will be the plan of action if tRump gets elected. F' Up, blame someone else, keep pedaling.

I'm pretty sure that Mrs. Trump flat-out stated that she wrote the speech.

So which is it?

And honestly, who really cares overall?

I think Trump took the opportunity to state "But I am a benevolent dictator, am I not?"

This Keystone Cop Show just doesn't end!

Melania Trump Speech Appears To Be An Illegal Campaign Contribution

McIver does not appear to have any official role in the presidential campaign. Her letter acknowledging her role in the speech debacle appeared on corporate letterhead from the Trump Organization. And she is not listed as being paid by the Trump campaign on any available reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Corporations are banned from donating directly or through in-kind services to political campaigns. McIver could have volunteered her services, but her offer to resign from the Trump Organization suggests that she was acting within her job responsibilities.

“Given the identification of McIver as an ‘in-house staff writer’ at the Trump Organization in both the statement and letter, and her resignation from the Trump Organization ― printed on Trump Organization stationary ― and not the campaign, it appears that corporate resources may have been used to prepare the speech,” said Jordan Libowitz, communications director for the campaign finance watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. “That would make the speech an illegal in-kind corporate contribution from the Trump Organization to the campaign.”

Wow, two days of frenzied feverish pitched media coverage at the expenditure of zero dollars by the Trump campaign....and he caps it off by being forgiving and generous, the man is a genius.

Why fire her?

She should be rewarded for providing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of free publicity to Trump and the convention.

The media optic of America-hating Michelle Obama, who said being American was shameful to her, juxtaposed with Melaiana, who was grateful and considered being American the greatest privilege, was priceless.

Melania did write the speech.... with some assistance, as has been made clear thousands of times.

ALL politicians have professionals do the same.

Speaks 5 languages apparently/supposedly...but can't write a speech in English herself with her own thoughts?
And, after all those denials.

And Trump was FURIOUS that we accused her...when it WAS plagiarized...just not by her, huh? By somebody THEY employ!

She'll make a great 1st Lady. We see how this is going' to go...Someone else's thoughts, denials...and name calling.

I'm so proud to be an American right now.

I still think a lot of people should get a 'Life' and vote for whoever you want, it's OK really, it's called "Democracy"
