STAGGERING WEBSITE TRAFFIC THIS MORNING

The machine has been up and down this morning due to a staggering amount of connections... this is not a DDoS attack (last night we did have UDP floods).

Is anyone aware of any mention of ATS out in the real world recently?

Tut said something about ATS being mentioned on coasttocoast last night.

that was my first though too, but I couldn't find any articles on their wersite linking to ATS, from the last two or three days...

I emailed them a week ago, to ask about the links to ATS, but still haven't got a reply back.

I will do my bit to ease the congestion.

Away from civilisation for a week, from three hours time.

Reduced traffic would help me a little in my prediction for the 100,000th post, maybe, but Zion in that regard I think you were off the mark by over a week...

The AVERAGE number of new posts per day is 315.
But nowaday's we have a lot more new posts per day than, let's say...half a year ago...

We're actually getting about 580 new posts each day.

If so....then that would be half the damn Armies fault!

I was on around that time and we had a massive spike caused by a incident over here...blew something BIG up and it kinda caused a massive load of data that was on the computers to go haywire!

yes nyeff, there are a couple of thousand websites out there with a link to ATS.
But that doesn't explain the sudden massive increase of traffic to this website...

We're actually getting about 580 new posts each day.

Yeah i could have guessed, ever since the new server was used the number of posts increased...I only looked at the average number of posts... which is now 317 compared to 315 two days ago...

Two zombies + staggering traffic = interrupted mySQL.sock = corrupt indexes = sluggish machine

I've also just tried a different strategy for optimizing Apache for higher traffic... we'll see how well it turns out soon enough.

William...had a word with the IT guys in the barracks......they said that they have some problems as well when they went onto some websites (have a guess!) on the 'private' laptops!

After some adjustments to our server's Apache configuration (the web server application) we seem to be handling the increased traffic much better than before.

I've also added a "posts in the past 24 hours" indication at the bottom of the forum home... 681 is the current tally. Most of you forget that our forum stats of "315 posts per day" is an average over 14 months.

yes indeed last evening @ 22:00 hours alaska time coast to coast had a chowde head on talking about his childhood experience at Brookhaven sounded like nonsense. however at the home page for coast to coast in the intro appeared in
capital letters Majestic-12 and Above Top Secret so I posted in a thread that can not find now in order to give a heads up notice due to the difficulties you experienced yesterday.

Funny you mentioned the title of that CtoC subject.

If someone hears something in a news article or radio program which uses the phrase "above top secret" which is a common term in the area of governmental conspiracy theorisation, anyone who sticks that in a search engine is likely to come here!

A direct mention of the website isn't necessary, but the use of that term would spark intrigue among people.

Go to Google.co.uk, type in "above top secret" and the 7th match down is to editing user account "Hank" here on the board, weird.
