As would be fitting for this thread, things can only improve after starting with Small Wonder. I remember watching the show as a child. I can only imagine the damage it did to my psyche. Or was it cluing me in to a bigger reality (the fact that most of humanity seems to be robotic in nature)?

There could be a grand message to Small Wonder, but I think almost everyone can agree that it's terrible television regardless.

Anything with a laugh track.

I dare to say the overwhelming majority of sitcoms are just awful. Only a handful are good. IMO Seinfeld was the last great one and the King of Queens was the last decent one.

Totally agree! Any show that needs to tell people when to laugh by using a laugh track = immediate channel switch!

Everybody Hates Raymond would rank right up there near the top of sucky shows. Had all the ingredients for King of Sucks Hall of Fame...bitchy, nagging, humorless, wife...condescending in-laws, dysfunctional relatives, with a dolt at the center. The kids were the highlight of that program....because they never said anything!

OP...why did you have to limit this thread to "sitcoms"???

Please, please, PLEEEEEEZ can we do TV shows in general????

....because the landslide winner in that category would be.....envelope please.....

Keeping up with the (people who have done absolutely ZERO to deserve being famous) Kar-dolt-ians!

I'm a sucker for cheesy, awful sitcoms. I really could never watch Full House though. It was just a terrible joke on the world...even worse than the Brady Brunch

There were so many aweful sitcoms it`s hard to know where to begin to list them.
what`s really surprising is the number of aweful ones that were popular and successful.

Rosanne
mike and molly
the golden girls
full house
maude
....

i actually have fond memories of small wonder even though it was afwul, I remember her cutting the potatoes in squares so they did not roll of the plate and found a certain admiration for the logic in it.

There was a sitcom about Hitler secretly moving to the US after WW2 called "Heil honey I'm home" but never got off the ground.

I think the worst one I know of was the US reboot of Red Dwarf.

Although popular, I could never stomach Friends.

On the flip side, recently I've been re-watching Night Court and I'm pleasantly surprised at how great the first few seasons still are.

Nothing could have been worse than Three's Company, unless possibly that awful show with Valerie Bertineli, One Day at a Time.

Anything with a laugh track.

In the UK, MASH was shown without a laugh track throughout its run because anecdotally it had originally been missing when first broadcast and got extremely high figures. I've seen some episodes since with the laugh track in place and it becomes unwatchable knowing the power it had without it. That however, isn't always the case with every show. If the laughter is from a live audience of the recording it can make you feel like you are part of the show - I appreciate there's a fine line and not every how gets it right.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, did you have to mention WKRP? For some reason I can't fathom, the theme tune has been buzzing round my head for days and had just started to recede back into a dark corner of my mind, yet here you are, bringing it back.

I love Everybody Loves Raymond lol. Then again, I love King of Queens too and the worst Raymond episodes were the crossovers with Doug Heffernen...fricken awful. They cancelled each other out.

Trying to think of some bad ones....

The Belushi sitcom was garbage. Friends spinoff 'Joey' was even worse.

A left-fielder...Married With Children used to be my favourite sitcom and guaranteed belly laughs. I downloaded a dozen shows last year and couldn't finish a single episode. Kept skimming for laughs and it was all cardboard and canned laughter.

ETA - Sledgehammer! Jeez, that was great when I was 14 and beyond s*** to watch now.

... I can't really remember the last time I found a sitcom worth the time to watch.

They're just lame for the most part.

MASH was sometimes entertaining. I still like the episode where Frank tries to drive the tank and Potter shoots the jeep he runs over.

I think the worst ones are the ones they produce for kids' networks though.

LOL before I even clicked on the thread I thought of Small Wonder. And the dumbest part was that they dressed her in the same outfit every episode.

Give me some Gilligan's Island, Beverly Hillbillies and Andy Griffith any day.

The one where Sally field was a nun who flew because she had an oversized hat! Can't remember the name. Also Mad About You was so boring.
