I look at it this way:

You either have an opinion about what is said or you don't, but the best way to discuss is to come from the position of your personal opinion and belief and not simply because you are feeling about what someone else said or a word they used.

I truly don't pay a whole lot of attention to stars. I didn't realize there was a bordering system until someone else posted about it and I noticed that my own box had that color border on it.

People either agree with me or they don't, but it won't often change what I believe about a subject. If it did, then my own beliefs on the subject in question weren't very strong or well thought out in the first place. Sometimes, someone pitches a novel argument that makes me think and reassess but it's not often, usually things are retreads of where I've gone before. It's those rare moments when someone does bring up a new facet or approach that I live for. I honestly want to know want to know I've covered the territory and considered the angles.

This is the rare place where the discussion reaches that level at times after so many years. Most of the internet just screams the tired old surface level stuff.

Take a step back and few deep breaths and value what we have here. You aren't going to like all of what you read, definitely aren't going to agree with all of it, but you don't have to. Just value that there are still places where different people CAN still converse reasonably rationally over charged topics.

we're all guilty of sometimes thinking..."they don't get it". Looking back on my own posts I too seem to be passionate about certain viewpoints. Then I re-evaluate and see that ATS is but a microcosm of what's out there.

You will get people who attack anyone who posits that ADHD or vaccinations are not contrived by the Pharmaceutical or Psychiatric players, and yet they accept that their Government does no wrong in spreading democracy through invasion and plundering of resources, because it sustains their economic system...rant over...So I ws not wrong after all...hehe
