Must have been some kind of 1st Amendment zone or something.

Probably.

Or failure to "Obey" and follow a "command" regardless if it was lawful order or not.

Failure to obey the Mayor and Governor' stating the original law
You cant block traffic even during a First Amendment right to protest. Damn , we new that one in the 60s and 70s

One of the popular activists in the Black Lives Matter movement DeRay Mckesson was arrested during a protest in Baton Rouge Louisiana last night.

Apparently he was warned to not step off the sidewalk he was on, and then he was arrested by two police officers.

Whether he actually stepped off the sidewalk a second time is unclear.

Witnesses say the arrest was violent and that he was *targeted*.

He had his phone on and was streaming the events.

He is charged with *obstructing a highway of commerce*.

Black Lives Matter activist DeRay Mckesson arrested by Baton Rouge police

DeRay Mckesson, one of the most prominent activists associated with the police reform protest movement, was arrested in Baton Rouge, where he traveled earlier Saturday to demonstrate in solidarity with residents angered by the recent death of Alton Sterling after an officer-involved shooting that was captured on video.

Mckesson was taken into custody about 11 p.m. in what two fellow activists who witnessed it described as a physically violent arrest.

“The officers won’t give their names,” said Brittany Packnett, a co-founder with Mckesson of the group Campaign Zero, a prominent activist collective. “He was clearly targeted.”

Yeah, the same guy whose account was hacked revealing plans to protest and cause dissent preceding and during the Primaries so that POTUS declares Martial Law and no elections take place....

I notice POTUS says nothing on this one and this person who was exposed with making terroristic threats is free to walk on the sidewalk.

By shutting down conventions and creating chaos into November, #BlackLivesMatter activists want to so disrupt the process that President Barack Obama has an excuse to implement martial law and cancel the election.

An exchange between McKesson and #BlackLivesMatter activist Samuel Sinyangwe revealed this:

@samswey: I wanted to touch base with you about the summer of chaos. So far we have 2,000 people being bused in from different cities and another 6,000 to 8,000 expected to drive into Cleveland for the convention.

@samswey: They will not be ready for the type of crowds we are bringing in and they will blame Trump for it, especially if we shut it down. The GOP will have to replace him at that point or we will continue the disruptions nationwide.

@deray: I will pass the info along. Good work, Sam. You never let us down. If (sic) so important we stop Trump. He will destroy everything we have worked so hard for and we can’t trust Hillary. She’s never proven she really cares about what we want.

An exchange between McKesson and fellow #BlackLivesMatter leader Johnetta “Netta” Elzie followed. It implicated Lynch:

@Nettaaaaaaaa: Have you spoken with Mrs Lynch recently about the plan for the summer and fall leading up to the elections

@deray: We spoke two weeks and they us to start pushing how racist Trump is now instead of waiting so the others can start getting the protesters ready to shut both conventions down.

@deray: We have to make sure that use our voices to keep people disrupting Trump all summer and through the fall so martial can be declared before the election.

@deray: I spoke with Sam earlier today and he confirmed that there will be around 10,000 protestors disrupting convention. Plans are being made for earlier cities as well for upcoming Trump events. Ads have already been placed looking for people to help. I know you don’t care for them but this is the time we need our white allies doing a lot of work for us. They are the ones who will listen best.

@Nettaaaaaaaa: That will put fear in the GOP and the country when they can’t have their convention for all their racist supporting Trump. We’ve worked too hard and closely with the Obama administration to have that racist ass take all and away and Hillary sure don’t give a damn about us.

@Nettaaaaaaaa: You know I can’t stand those white allies, but you right this is the best to use them. They hang on every word you say and will do whatever is asked. I just hate all that kiss ass they try to do. Like that changes who they are.

@deray: We have a lot of white allies volunteering for Trump’s campaign to pass along information to us before it’s made public so we know when rallies are coming up before they are announced. That way we can plan major disruptions in those cities in advance. We just have to keep our names out of this and let these people do the work for us by pushing how Trump’s racist ways will destroy black lives in America.

@Nettaaaaaaaa: That’s all those white people are good for in my eyes. I couldn’t imagine even pretending to like that racist ass Trump even to get info on his events. I’ll be glad when we shut his ass down.

@deray: With the support we have from Mrs Lynch and the help we’ve got from Sam and others it won’t be hard to cause enough disruptions to stop the elections. He can’t be president.

@Nettaaaaaaaa: They always thought you was playing when you said we could win. Call me later when you’re not too busy.

@deray: If we can get both conventions shut down for messing over Bernie and for having racist Trump, then get martial law declared so Obama can stay in office we will win. Call you soon when I get to my dads so I can use his landline and we can talk more on this.

If that is his plan it will be foolish and short lived; there are too many people that will not go 'quietly into the night'. The fallout however, will be very very unfortunate for many Americans living in this country on all sides of the political divide. I am hoping that it does not come to that. I am hoping that radical ideas that tend to polarize cultural differences for political gain lose favor and some sense of rational thought doused with some common sense creeps back to society.

I know, good luck on that one....

LMAO. The officers won't give their names?

It's on their UNIFORM, along with a Badge that has a NUMBER.

Also, as they made the Arrest it will be their names on the Report, since they have to fill the report out.

So what ?

Kudos for the police.

So what does that have to do if a black cop was one of the arresting officers?

That matters how?

So, it's ok he was arrested because he's with BLM or because he was protesting?

Good question.

Why does it matter when the Cop is White, by the way?

Well considering what other BLM groups are doing, I don't blame them.

This is along I-880 in Oakland. Never mind that this kind of thing can screw people of any color over, or even prevent ambulances from doing their jobs.

What could he do off the sidewalk that he couldn't on it?

This is EXACTLY why such laws exist.

But hey, let's get pissed when Cops try to ensure things like this don't happen.

No, you can't block traffic.

But the article doesn't say he specifically did that (blocked traffic).

“During the protest, the defendant entered the roadway and was provided another verbal order to exit the lanes of travel,” the affidavit states. “Moments later, the defendant entered the roadway again and was taken into custody by officers on the scene without incident.”

I'll state upfront that I do not know exactly what happened.

However, one has a right to *enter* a roadway. It's a public thoroughfare. Whether he simply stepped off the sidewalk and walked next to the curb certainly is not obstruction of traffic: it's failure to follow an order/command, regardless of intent. If he walked out into the road, or walked out into the road and stayed could be considered obstruction, but one still has the right to enter a roadway as long as one doesn't obstruct traffic in doing so. The latter definitely is obstruction of traffic.

He WANTED to get arrested.

I'm sure he did. But did he actually break the law by obstruction of traffic or did he simply fail to follow an "order"?

That was my point. Two different things.
