I am small and elderly (well officially) and fear a gun could be taken from me and used on me before i could fire. But do intend to investigate and purchase a pepper spray mixture.

Also, always knew I never wanted to have a gun. One of those things you always knew but didn't know why.

Perhaps you should consider moving to Scotland or something.
Here in America it's time once again to remind the folks we that we elected to work for us to do their job and preserve our freedoms.

Doesn't matter gun death have been reduced or that removing all the major gang banger deaths would put the USA in line with other countries that limit guns.
People hear gun and piss themselves and want it banned. Just how it is.

Very few people on the side of "gun control" want all guns banned or confiscated.

Yet, the one or two that do are expanded to cosmic proportions by the gun lobby and its sycophants and that's the mantra that gets repeated, no matter how many times those in favor of gun controls say differently.

/shrug

Not seeing this in many peoples comments on various news websites.

That's about as close to a zero-content comment as I've seen. Which websites, which comments?

You're waving your hand at nothing and saying "see!" ...

Let's just take those who argue for various levels of gun control on ATS then. Have you seen even one of them call for a complete gun ban or confiscation?

www.youtube.com...

I wasn't aware that the UN was a member of ATS.

To your evidence, there is no call there for universal gun confiscation or gun banning. There are many gun advocates that agree that there should be limitations on high-power/rapid shot weapons (I am not one of them) but that is STILL not a gun ban or confiscation.

Sorry, did not read most of your post. Anyway who cares what ATS thinks... it is like 10 individual people....

And there is the pro gun argument in a nutshell. Thanks for making it obvious to the reader.

Is that some kind of joke ?...

It seems you Americans are so divided i cannot see how any of you will stand together for a common goal, especially against the government, hell they have so many on the payroll it would not surprise me if some sort uprising against the government would be subverted by the people who disagree with the stance....

This going to be on the ballot in My state of California

www.sanluisobispo.com...

Ammunition Restritions

Ahead of a 2018 gubernatorial run, Newsom is pursuing a high-profile gun control initiative. The proposal would institute background checks for ammunition purchases, prohibit the possession of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, mandate reporting of lost and stolen guns, and establish a process to seize firearms from those prohibited from owning them. Gun rights and law enforcement groups oppose the measure, arguing it would do nothing to prevent criminals from obtaining weapons and ammunition via the black market or theft, but they have been vastly outraised in a state with the strictest gun policies in the country.

This is what we're up against.

Trust me the American people and their gun rights are what stands between the last snippets of freedom we have and a totalitarian Orwellian globalist Oligarchy inflicting their nightmare New World Order on the Planet.

Thank you.

If anything the globalist want the United States to be completely disarmed, perhaps some will be allowed to have hunting rifles, but that is no mach against a tyrannical government using M16, or AR15 in rounding up Americans.

I see it coming and very soon.

And a M16 and AR15 will be no match against drones, Tanks, APC and attack helicopters.

This isnt 1776. The public are not on any sort of even footing with the govement.

What wins asymmetrical warfare now are booby straps and IED's.......O wait why you been focusing on your gun rights the government has banned on redistricted anything in the USA that could make a explosion.

Gun control has just been a red herring. Shiny keys to dangle in front of you to distract you while they take the REAL dangerous toys from you.

They've taken the good stuff- and we're woefully unequipped as individuals to compete with our government...

But we outnumber them significantly, and a good portion of their forces would disband and head home to protect their families the instant it was clear that we had a war on our own soil.

Their only choice is to bring in an outside army and go door to door confiscating weapons... and I don't think even our supreme idiots and their total control over the media could keep that quiet enough to prevent an organized rebellion.
And they know it.
That's why they're doing it this way- creating these events that give them fuel for the fire to get people to allow the creation of more and more laws (fewer and fewer rights) that slowly squeeze the life out of us.

I don't know what to do about the problem, but the answer isn't letting them have their way.

Uhm ... well, if you don't "care about what ATS thinks" ... why are you posting here?

Followup: So, not to kick a dead horse ... but you have absolutely zero backup for your claim that most people in favor of gun control laws are seeking universal confiscation or banning ... just to be clear.

The fact you said " securely locked up till a threat comes your way" proves you don't know anything about life in the US.

The threat is everywhere. In the cities and suburbs, home invasions have become the gangsta rite of initiation of first choice. And for someone to become initiated, they have to kill at least one resident of the home invaded. So typically they kill one or more of the males and rape one or more of the females while the older gang members make off with stuff.

In two parent homes, one parent stands watch while the other sleeps and they take turns. In the cities, adults and kids sleep on the floor in apt. buildings so as to not be hit with bullets flying through walls and windows.

Enjoy your sunny English summer.

What rot.

I'm down with the training part. Uniform. Across the nation. With licensing as proof of proficiency in both use and safety. And no grandfathering either.

As an outsider from the UK, i think you should be able to keep your guns, of course securely locked up till a threat comes your way.

Over here were aloud guns just not in the same capacity, merely for hunting and shooting range etc, with proper licences or we'd get locked up, guess that's the same in the US?

But of course we in the UK don't need guns "yet" as I've never seen any threats around me ever, but that's our situation not yours.

Just remember

While our government tries to take our guns, that same government is supplying military grade weaponry to people in countries such as Syria so they can fight against an oppressive government (or so we are led to believe).

The hypocrisy is astounding. Gun rights are there for a reason. Every government is vulnerable to corruption and always leans toward tyranny, which is why the government must always be afraid of the people (not the other way around).

I understand it's a different culture in the UK, where you all still have loyalty to royal bloodlines and your country spent a long time basically ruling large parts of the world. Ours is still young and our bloody past is not that far gone so it is deeply ingrained in our cultures to EXPECT that the government will turn on the people.

The data also does not support gun control at all. Just look at different studies done on countries and individual cities with heavy gun control. It's garbage. It doesn't work. (though more money spent improving police forces have shown to work many times over to reduce violent crime, no one wants to talk about that because it doesn't invoke fear or emotionally charged responses).

OH my goodness!

You mean there are protests in America?

Come off of it. I mean really. You just presented a ridiculous view that everyone in America is hiding under our beds.

That may be true for the fringe, but its not in any shape, form, or fashion true about the country at large.

Stop the blatant, mindless fear mongering.

Dude, did you just bark up the wrong tree. I didn't have to "watch local news" ... I happened to be at a friends condo looking out across downtown and saw the demonstrations in Atlanta, first hand.

Guess what, we did that while standing on a balcony, having a nice cool summer drink ... not from under the bed crying about a race war.

In terms of reducing deaths by firearm use then yes gun control does work. Every country in Western Europe has tighter gun laws than the US and every country in Western Europe has far less gun deaths. There are good arguments than can be made against gun control but in terms of reducing deaths it does work.
