ok, so I can see the face in the rock, it looks like an angry jaguar. Think mayan depiction. That's just what I make out, with and without my glasses.

Now the other thing in front of the rock... It looks like a rock. I see no wires, or lasers, or anything that looks like an handheld device, unless you can count a rock as a handheld device then ok.

I'm really trying too even using my pretending abilities and I just can't see the other object.

but
for the face

Tobe honest, I find it hard to see a face in the rock... seems like multiple faces sometimes. The face paragraph was intended to lighten the post.

To me the little object in front of the bigger rock is synthetic. It has a darker colored forward section, with an inset rounded-rectangular indentation where-from the beam seems to be emitting.

The rear part of the device is a lighter greyish/whitish color which seems to have a slightly wavy wire or cable going toward the base of the rock.

Plus, if I was to assume the "device" is a piece of a rock, the shape and angular nature of that piece does not seem to fit any surrounding objects.

Maybe the rover hasn't suffered a technical glitch but has gone dark because they want to investigate building rubble discovered in one of the final images.

You guys and your outlandish claims. You are crazy if you think that was a building rubble, Cleary it's a ramp

If you look to the left of the face rock you see a piece that has broken off , I think it likely that the device is part of that break.

Try as I might, I see neither a face nor a "device"/wire/whatever. I do see several rocks though.

Well they have been good to us thus far, they clean the rovers when needed and get them unstuck and such, very helpful.

Notice how many large rocks have small rocks and gravel and dust on them, not so the human equipment even the screw holes are shiny clean after dust and moisture builds up and crusts into all the cracks they are again spotless and polished!

Does anyone else see the face of a puppy dog looking up to the top left.

Ehh...if ANYTHING looks like a face it's that rock near the top of the hill.

Im no troll. You and I have both been here long enough to realize neither of us are.

Thank you though for your opinion...misguided as it may be...but that's fine.

Best

Just looking through some of the last pics from Curiosity before its latest safe mode episode and 2 caught my eye. First is the balancing rock, nothing special just a rock that i wanted to point out:

mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

But the second pic is a mark in the sand which i presume has been some sort of test by Curiosity? Looks to me like maybe a laser mark, why would they test a random bit of sand with the laser though, do they? The colouring from right to left with a light tail and nothing on the head but a dark circle? If Curiosity did it, what tool did it?

mars.jpl.nasa.gov...

Thoughts...?

The mark in the sand is actually pretty neat. No other marks or tracks. Not sure the distance we are looking at though. The white lines on the rock are interesting too.
