Embrace of the Serpent

El abrazo de la serpiente or Embrace of the Serpent made me an instant fan of Ciro Guerra. Any attempt to mention how good this film is will be superfluous. I have to stop watching it around the middle part to pause and reflect, somehow it reminds of a very subdued version of a cross between Voltaire's Candide and maybe Carlos Castaneda's Yaqui Way that fans of Graham Hancock's 'Supernatural will love... lo and behold after smoking a cig, a few minutes after the middle part Karamakate wisecracked " The worst of both worlds."
