Ours wound up being far more elaborate than I planned, but it should be worth it.

It started with our son mentioned that he wanted brownies and watermelon, both legit 4th fare. I decided I wanted a pasta type salad of some kind, and convinced my husband that if we went to the butcher shop, they have fantastic pre-made, in house burger patties and sausages.

Then things got a bit more complex when we started playing with it, but it ought to still be good. We also picked up some twice baked loaded potato skins along the way.

So what are you all having? Traditional cookout? Picnic?

Going to my parents for my bro's birthday and the 4th celebration. Burger and dogs and typical picnic fare. Gonna prank my pops with some liquid ass. He is 80 and it ought to be a hoot watching him try to figure out who soiled themselves.

Going to sit on the beach for a while. I am cooking blackened sword fish and having green peas for a side! At 9pm Marina del Ray has fireworks. I will peddle my bike over there to watch. End of night.

Chicken, hot dogs, burgers, mac salad, (the usual stuff) and some friends and kids who incidentally enjoy running in and out of my house until every form of insect has entered...I will be the Noah's Ark yet again for insects...

Going to go to a barbecue. Made a nice red white and blue cake to feed a crowd. There should be some great food there and I'm excited to eat it lol!

Strawberry cake, chess pies, watermelon, brisket, raw fruit & veggie platter with homeade dips, pasta & potato salads and deviled eggs. Lots of delicious things to drink! Limeade, lemonade, sweet southern tea, and the usual beer for my brother in law

Happy 4th everyone!

We have homemade spaghetti salad, homemade potatoe salad, and we are having Vollwerths natural casing hot dogs on the grill. Maybe I should start a fire in the fire pit instead, hot dogs taste better over the fire.

its going to be 105 today, so no bbq.

i bought some tomatos from a farmers market in fredericksburg yesterday, and got them peeled last night. SPent the morning making the tomato sauce, and tonight we are doing pizza's.

The sauce is killer. I have the herb garden here at home, and had some fresh italian sausage I made on Friday. And an herbs de province oil that Ill put on the crust. I have the herbs coming out of my ears, and almost can't keep up with harvesting/trimming on the basil and oregano. But im making all sorts of stuff and preserving it all as best I can. This sauce was a big batch that will be divided into 6 meal size portions (about 2 jars worth in each portion).

that's American, right?
