Comidien and Actress Caroline Aherne dies of cancer aged 52

I am not sure how well she is known outside of the UK but she was a very talented performer and writer, possibly best known for the sitcom The Royle family.

Comedian Caroline Aherne, who wrote and appeared in sitcom The Royle Family, has died at the age of 52. Aherne, who also starred in Mrs Merton, had suffered from cancer, her publicist said. The actress said two years ago that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, having previously had bladder and eye cancer. Aherne was also the narrator of Gogglebox and appeared in The Fast Show.

I think she had something of a troubled life and suffered from depression at times.

Not familiar with her but condolences to those who have suffered from her passing.

Very sad news and another one taken by that terrible disease.

She had her Demons for sure, but then people with so much talent, it appears, always do.

She has left a great legacy, though she will be greatly missed.

Just read on her wiki page that she had retinoblastoma as a child, a rare form of eye cancer.

Must have been lying dormant and metastasised about two years ago; she had it in the eye, bladder, lung, and throat.

She was married to New Order's bass player, but divorced after only two years. No kids.

She suffered from depression and alcoholism and attempted suicide in 1998.

Wow. What a life.

She must have been riddled with cancer when she was narrating Gogglebox, poor love.

i can remember her at a award do on television many years ago shouting for uncle charlie to come backstage everyone wanted to meet him
