This looks like nothing more than political BS fear mongering from the GOP to try to overturn net neutrality when it goes to the Supreme courts.

The crazy thing is, that net neutrality principles that they are trying to stop is exactly what is stopping online censorship.

This doesn't surprise me really. As we've watched the Elites reaction to the Brexit vote, its very obvious they're seriously rattled and they tie the Brexit vote together with what they see as a populist attack on globalization, free trade, open borders, etc. and then they tie all that to the Trump campaign.

Then as upset as the elites are, I'm sure they tie in their loss on Brexit to social media and the internet and have come to realize they've got to contain the messaging on the Internet and parse it through PC filters such that only their propaganda is available.

Its inevitable. The Elites see this as core to their survival and the survival of their agenda.

Yes, this is it in a nut shell ! The only way the Elites have maintained control for so long is by controlling information and doing their dirty deals without public scrutiny. I don't think they're going to be able to put this Genie back in the bottle.

ATS has already had the trigger pulled on it, and is why each new election cycle seems to bring new anonymity restrictions to this site. I am still predicting a mandatory "location detection" feature to post (or even read) next year after this election. Might not even be only ATS, could very well be across the board. Control of the internet is the last nail in the coffin. They already use numerous tactics to control the narrative and create the results they want. Anyone not spouting far left ideals are targeted and censored by the big scale websites and social media outfits. They already control all the major media online, so now they go after anyone they can online. Paid troll armies, censoring comment sections, injecting fake blog posts and forum posts are very common today.

We are standing at the edge here people, when our freedom of speech is fully controlled online, it is done. The people at the top will have won, and all of the useful idiots on the bottom left will be cheering the book burning party to ensue. We will be seeing more "hate speech" laws and terms of service. We are going to see more and more content scrubbing. We will see more sites taken down by web hosts. All of our communications are already being stored and analyzed, so they know who to go after. Internet service providers will be forced to remove service from "hateful" customers.

The regressive leftists will be cheering and working toward making this a reality. You see a lot of them on this site talking about "harmful speech." You see the people here that call everyone racist. These are the people that are actively working as pawns for the people at the top, actively subverting freedom of speech, and actively ushering in our final enslavement.

An open and free internet is our last shot at breaking our chains. If we miss this opportunity it is over.

And to all of you nutjob leftists encouraging this nonsense to protect your own fragile sensibilities, take a moment to think about the bigger picture once in a while.

while I agree with you about the tactics, it wont be the end. The world was working pretty much exactly the same up to 30 years ago, so the end of internet wont be the end. In fact, it may actually liberate millions of people who are firmly embraced by the invisible tentacles that emanate from the screens.

The internet won't go away, it will just be a 100% controlled speech zone. They used the TV and newspaper media to control the narrative before the internet, which worked. Once they control the internet people will be nothing more than acting roles in Wall-E and Idiocracy.

Look at the advancement of the internet since it's mainstream inception. It is now everywhere we go, and will soon be in everything we own as well. Imagine the speed and power in the future. 30 years from now it will be a mind control juggernaut, and the power brokers controlling the narrative will be able to do anything and everything they want with no resistance or dissent from the people.

People will actually be cheering them along, much like they are doing now. The only difference will be that it will be almost an almost 100% consensus. The applications are endless, and it will be the end of the free human. Once the mind is controlled and the spirit is broken, there is nothing else left.
