There looks to have been a pretty impressive CME very recently which has thrown lots of stuff outwards (or someone has used a bit of glasspaper to
clean the lenses
).
This should been a pretty good aurora too...
The Lasco images are here - the CME is about halfway down the page, the pictures at the top of the page are the subsequent results.

Edit: Argh - this should have been in space exploration of course (which is where I
thought I had posted it, strange, but obviously not -
grr).
