Slight problem with that.

This country is short on philosophers, and long on zombies.

What we have now is a failure to communicate, cooperate, compromise or tolerate

I have a feeling Neo that it will take something monstrous to make us all realize the error of our ways

Here's hoping we wise up before that actually happens

I agree with you 100%, but as long as big money is allowed in elections, we are royally screwed. The low information voters on both sides only believe what they see on TV or hear on the radio.

" Do you believe his act of voicing his opinion (free speech) should lead to him being taken off his bench? "

If his Personal Thoughts Conflict with his Ability to be Far and Balanced concerning his Court Decisions , then yes , he should Resign as a First Choice , then if he refuses , take Him to Court .

So basically any judge or elected official that doesn't agree with your personal beliefs should be impeached?

Ok, so you agree that his opinion itself is not grounds for dismissal, but instead his actions on the bench that may reflect such a stance.

Has he made any ruling from the bench that would coincide with his personal opinion?

Agreed

It's hard to even have this conversation without sounding like an arrogant, elitist dick

So - where do we go from here?

No Bubba , Agreeing with me has nothing to do with the Oath this Federal Judge took , and Broke with his Words today .

He was appointed by Reagan and is a Republican.

This explains the whole thing.

Born to a Jewish family in NYC, don't see that Chicago would affect him much, you got anything else?

I am honestly not sure, I don't like Trump or Clinton, will probably vote third party, in hopes they get enough interest to succeed in 4 years. Down ticket, I will vote for every Democrat I can find because of some of the Republican asshats running for office in the state of Missouri.

“I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation,” Posner argued.

And people bash Trump insinuating a Judge in his University trial may be biased because he has a Mexican heritage and the media spun Trump to be a Mexican hating racist.

Yea, no bias From judges.... Trump was probably right. I know many people that their first impression leaves lifetime biases.

He never said he would not uphold it, just doesn't think all of the time studying it is necessary, big difference.

Hmmm.
That is ironic since he took an oath to support and defend it.

Then you might want to do a little research before you jump in with both feet, it is what many do. There is a nice article on wikipedia with many of his ideas on the subject.

Plenty.

Richard Posner

Posner has generally been identified as being politically conservative; however, in recent years he has distanced himself from the positions of the Republican party authoring more liberal rulings involving same-sex marriage and abortion.

Definitely contaminated by the Chicago Democrat arena

I am twisting nothing, I read the quote in the OP and formed my opinion from there.

No maybe he is really a thinking man, and his opinions have altered over the years, I know mine have. Sometimes, you decide that there really is no reason for your hate, it affects your life in no way.

Ok.

When he acts-out on his opinion and forces that opinion on to his rulings, we can talk. Until then, he is allowed his opinion and I think we would be better served to consider it and learn from it, whether we agree with it or not.

Each justice or judge of the United States shall take the following oath or affirmation before performing the duties of his office: “I, ___ ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as ___ under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God.”
