Wellll given how many people perceive me as condescending . . . unless they know me face to face . . . or know my heart . . . I don't know that I am a good one to rate condescending.

Do I think I'm right about some things? Certainly. Who doesn't?

If we didn't think so, WE'D BELIEVE SOMETHING DIFFERENT!

Do I think I'm right about everything? Of course not.

Do I think I can't learn from others--even those who disagree with me? Absolutely not. I love iron sharpening iron.

Maybe I don't understand other folks definition of condescending very well.

To me, it means someone who is very arrogant and 100% convinced that they are always right; that there's no one they can learn from . . . and that it is their magnanimous graciousness to stoop to communicate with the riffraff at all. That's condescending, to me.

I never think that way and never feel that way.

By the same token, I am going to state my case for my strongest, most emotionally intensely held beliefs with all the forcefulness I can muster. Some folks say I can be intimidating in such regards. Given my insecurities, that still surprises me somewhat though not as much as it did 50 years ago. I still tend to think of myself as a toe headed poor white trash hick farm boy that happened to get a good education.

Anyway . . . Didn't realize that ramble was in there.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . that's what I suspected on reading the OP.

Kind of axiomatic, it seems. Sigh.

What you live for?

What . . . cutting others insecure desperate fantasies about their length down to realistic proportions?

LOLOL.

There is a certain satisfaction in that, alright.

Nope. Just good with bullies. I'm well educated as too.

Welllllllllllllllll, imho,

BULLIES

NEED AND DESERVE

you cutting them down to side. More power to you.

Now how you define a bully would be interesting.

it's probably not the best forum for a "mind firmly closed."
Just sayin'.....

If the section is almost inactive, it is taking up valuable space. I agree.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it, like a hand cannon!

Ya never know what might pop up in a month or a year.

I defined that as exceedingly gentle.

A bully would have said something like . . .

hmmm . . . pondering . . .

"You just want to close down views not close to your own on that sphere of reality. You deserve to go suck rocks for thinking of such a thing!"

Even that is not quite a bully, to my definition.

It seems to me that with that defined as bullying, anything annoying or uncomfortable to the other person would be defined as bullying. Not out West where I live.

Your avatar, now THAT is bullying!!!

BTW, you have a PM.

I think bullying might be defined as an overwhelmingly intimidating threat and/or use of physical or verbal violence.

I can't bring myself to type what I think a bully would have said.

Space? What space? Surface area on a server hard drive? Not a whole hell of a lot I would venture.

I believe this forum has outlived its currency, and I think ATS would be better off without it.

I notice a lot of good stuff disappearing. I dunno why.

Delete, remove, expunge.

It seems there is some sensitive guy behind the scenes that don't like a lot of things.

Of course, it could just be the need for space on the hard drives.

Pity.

I did not know how much space. I was basing my answer on recent talks about how expensive it is to run the site. I also recall, but am too tired to look for, comments about the amount of forums having increased over years.

As I understand it, the expense is not in disk space. It's in security measures.

Is it also in bandwith and the number of pages spidered for search engines?

Bandwidth is bandwidth. Neither bandwidth nor bots care what forum something is posted in.

Personally, I would just as soon that the content of that forum stay there.

No.

I don't often go to the forum...but there are those who do--or would, if the conversations were just that---conversations.

It's an outlet for those who wish to let their opinions be known--one way, or another.

If that's not to your liking, don't go to that forum.
