I wanted to start a thread about "Be Strong,....Be good!" Write about one time in your life where you bit your tounge, where you chose right over wrong, where you might have been so mad, so angry, but..... you made a choice you were better than that. It's easy to be bad. ITS SOOO HARD TO BE GOOD. Share your story. Please.

I forced my Soldiers in Afghanistan to do physical training on their off days. They were getting obese and lethargic, eating garbage and playing video games...generally being lazy when not on missions. I finally made it mandatory with my Commander's blessing that they had to do physical training on their days off with their squad on the FOB.

They wanted me dead to say the least. I mean they truly effin hated me. After a few weeks though they started to look forward to it, developed good workouts, built team commradery, trust, confidence in each other and much happier. And when s*** hit the fan there was more energy and motivation, focus to push through it...protect each other. Just that one hard choice made a big difference in their attitude and posture.

It was a tough call but end of the day it was the right call. Some of them told me later I was absolutely right.

Those soldiers had every right to tell you where to go and you had no right dictating to them on time off... How did that feel? Knowing you were the prick in the heel whenever spring was in their step?

The Laos border near the Ho Che Minh trail 1970...the 1/4 C company second squad...Bravo squad leader asked a 19 year old trooper to walk point in triple canopy jungle that was known to harbored NVA soldiers. The point man was then a your man, trained to kill and had seen his best friend hung from a bamboo tree...by the NVA... upside down with his dick and balls cut off and stuffed in his mouth...his mood that day in August 1970 was bloody.
Later the same day The NVA tripped an ambush and killed the two men behind point man... the rest of squad returned fire and charged the ambush breaking the NVA attack and in doing so distanced themselves from the point man who was now past the ambush site and hiding in the jungle waiting to link up with squad. It never happened.
When night came the point man was making his way back to the last known LZ...slowly walking, listening and avoiding NVA patrols and hidden NVA bunkers until two NVA stood up in front of him...their backs facing the point man. Hiding was not an option as the point man knew they would soon turn around.
The knife was used by the point man cutting the neck of the NVA on the left...and turning to the next NVA saw a woman...and used the handle to knock the NVA down. Once the NVA was down the knife was turned and raised to strike...but he could not kill the woman that he now saw was a young girl...remembering his buddy with his balls in his mouth his anger flashed...yet he let the girl live.
The point man gagged the girl, tied her hands and feet with parachute cord and pushed her further into the jungle bush.
Two days later the point man linked up the 1/4 company...and survived his tour in Vietnam.
The Point Man.

Great thread, ok I was on adderall for ten long years. My doctor kept upping the dose. I was taking 80mg of instant release per day. I turned into a zombi. Lost all my friends. All I thought about was adderall.

So one day I woke up and destroyed my adderall pills. I went through a one year withdrawal. My doctor said lets just lower the dose. I said no I am done with adderall and done paying you like a dealer.

Two years since I quit and I got my friends and life back.

I thought I needed it too but after being free from adderall I knew I never needed it. We as humans are all different.

Here is mine. It's not a war story or something important. It's just a story. I was 16 in high school. A senior walked up behind me and slap me in the head while I was eating lunch. Remember the 80's 90's lunch rooms? Yeah, so he slapped me hard in the back of my head. I was soooooo mad. I got up stood him straight in the eye and spoke a few words to him as I was shaking. I simply asked please don't make me mad. Just know if you treat me like that again I will react. I don't want get physical but you have put me in a position where I either prove my worth or be judged. Long story short, he felt my anger. That was enough. I didn't have to proceed any further.

Good for you. I have been taking kick boxing for a long time and ground grappling. I have learned you never fight unless you have to defend yourself or family. Do what it takes to never hurt a human. You did that. 👍🏽 your awesome.

My ex went crazy and tried pushing me out of a window, then repeatedly punched me in the face and "dared" me to do something in return.

My good deed was not getting physical in return after taking so many hits from her or calling the cops for that matter.

I just called her a stupid bicth, packed my # and left her in the dust.

I feel you, my X did the same to me, I left her and never hurt her. She broke my front teeth. I had to get posts in my mouth and feel the pain.
