I will try to add another entry some time tonight or tomorrow morning. So what do you have planned before work?

The rain is here now. Nothing major tonight at least down my way. And I need to watch episode 2 in that WV ghost show Skid & Chirp told me about.

Ah the life!!! I would LOVE to be sitting on the beach right now. My sister is on vacation and keeps sending me pictures. I really liked it before texting. She couldn't rub it in until she got back. LOL

Some very good news from here in West Virginia.

Two men who were missing and presumed dead from the flooding in Greenbrier County have been found alive!

The West Virginia Medical Examiner's Office has revised the number of deaths due to the floods down to 23 after two people believed to have been swept away in a camper in Greenbrier County and had been presumed dead were found alive.

I saw that, that is wonderful!!!!

How are you doing? Wow, we got so lucky. It hit Hinton 20 miles up the road but other than some bad SMALL flash flooding we didn't get anything. And I'm sure you understand when I say what we got was normal. NOTHING like above us. Hinton was NO where near some of the places but pretty bad, especially on the I64 side.

Tonight we've had a couple storms but they've been fast moving.

Jess my love!!

I'm doing pretty well right now actually, in fact, the sun is out up here somewhat. We got lucky for the most part here in the eastern end of Kanawha County. We had some high water up here where the Kanawha was up real high with the usual spots being covered. Route 61 between marmet and Chesapeake was covered and nearly impassable until Friday morning. Northern end of Kanawha County from Clendenin to Pinch to Elkview to Frame and over to Sissonville were the hardest hit areas in Kanawha County by far.

Jess and Quantum, interesting story line! Can't wait to see what happens next!

Chooch, that's awesome that they found the two missing men!

Going to watch a movie. Have a great night everyone. I'll probably be back later on sometime.

With the way my area sits (Bluefield – Princeton) we have flooding EVERY time it rains. The last big flood about 10 years ago they actually set parts in Mercer and McDowell where you are no longer allowed to rebuild. Some of us do buy flood insurance. I have cracked up with the people on the National News trying to talk about us. Only guy that’s done any good is the guy on Fox that came from WVVA…don’t know his name…
The town name pronunciation has been hilarious. But all in all I think they have done a good job.

Most of Kanawha County like where I am is protected from most major flooding by the two lock and dams. The one at London and the one here at Marmet are two of the three locks still on the Kanawha River between Gauley Bridge and Point Pleasant that control the lower part of the New River drainage and the upper part of the Kanawha drainage. I haven't really been watching the national or out of town local outlets that have been here. I can imagine they've all had trouble saying Ronceverte and Alderson a time or two already. LOL

I've also been keeping up with the work progress on the cleanup along the Allegheny and New River Subdivisions. From what I have been told by a friend of mine that lives up that way. He was one of the lucky ones not to be flooded out up there since he lives on top of Big Bend Tunnel at Hilldale. From what he told me from the info that some people he knows with CSX gave him. the New River Sub may have actually bore the brunt of the floodwaters as they made their way west past Hinton. From what he was told pertaining to wash outs and such. The single track at both ends of Lewis Tunnel and over around Callaghan on the Virginia side were washed out. The number one track between Caldwell and White Sulphur Springs was washed out as well. The last wash out he knew of was a small one down around Ronceverte. Not to mention the 40+ slides on the New River west of Hinton either......

This was 2002 and they got hit 2001 and a few more times since then but no one has the money to leave and what are they going to do when they get there? Coal mining is just a different way of life.

McDowell County Flood of 2002

Mountain Flooding
The way the water flows through the mountain causes a strange effect. One town may get 10 inches of rain but be dealing with a river already 6 feet over flood levels because the towns above it have all gotten 4 inches of rain. Rivers will reroute themselves once they overflow their banks. If it sees a manmade streamline (a road for example) there it goes, yards that have drainage lines gone, etc. Our rivers our already strong enough to be some of the best and strongest rapids in the United States, we didn't need help. This is not only flood but raging rivers flooding through neighborhoods.

Hi Chooch,

Did any tracks get washed out?

These are the only wash outs that I know of and they are, or were, on the Allegheny Subdivision between Hinton, WV and Clifton Forge, VA. The single track at both ends of Lewis Tunnel and over around Callaghan on the Virginia side were washed out. The number one track between Caldwell and White Sulphur Springs was washed out as well. The number two main in the same stretch between Caldwell and White Sulphur Springs is still intact. The last wash out that I was made aware of was a small one down around Ronceverte, West Virginia. I believe they have all been repaired or are in the process of being repaired.

Quantum's Last Entry Page 43

Martin giggled, “What in the world would I know in my time that you guys wouldn’t know in yours? Well, I do have an idea…. If you know where the heart of the virus resides maybe removing the hard drive will kill it?”

The Time travelers both looked at each other and decided it was worth a shot. “OK, guys we know where the hard drive is. What happens if we remove it?”

“Is this a server with duplicate drives or a desktop?” Martin asked. “If it’s a desktop it’s the drive and if it’s backed up anywhere. If it’s a server that is a little bit harder…”

The Time Travelers promised to return with more information and set a time to meet up for dinner later that evening. In the meantime Martin and Quantum had a city to explore.

I asked Martin what kind of food do you like, she was too amazed by the black sand to answer. We went back to the time machine I fixed the broken time strut. Away we went to 2019.

My mind told the time machine to travel into a time of great food and return us later to the same time we just left. The reason for this is if you start drinking martinis the time machine cannot read your mind after a good night of drinking.

The time machine took us back to the black sands of Maui but a different year. We found a cool Cuban Restaurant and set up at the bar.

Next to me was a girl sipping a Mojito and eating a crab cake. I said hello and introduced Martin. She said he name was Chirp and she was also a time traveler from the year 2016. She too was looking for a fix for the year 2016. She explained the Quantum theory of going forward to fix the past.

Her problem was a evil time traveler hot wired her time machine and she was stuck in this year. After dinner and many drinks Martin and I invited her to come with us in our machine to a much later year and we also offered to find this evil man who stole her machine. With tears of joy and big hugs Chirp joined us. More soon
