I post a response that pretty well sums this up, that these are fringe loonies who don't represent any bigger group or movement, and it's immediately followed by four bickering "shut up, no you shut up!!" posts. ATS is getting grosser...

Are you LGBT?

Yes, and I along with most of my generation and older well know the history of ACT UP. They are pretty much in the league of PETA as far as attention grabbing and nuttiness. I can guess why you are asking, and I don't appreciate it.

Thanks. You guessed wrong. But, no issue.

I get the PETA reference. Understand perfectly.

Islam and Christianity are both anti-LGBT

So in your mind there is no difference between taking philosophical position in a debate and rounding gays up in trucks for public execution? It's all black and white to you?

50 shades of gay.

Sorry couldn't help myself.

The lib/progs pet muslims and islam killed their friends. It's hard for them to deal with that little fact so they blame and protest Trump, of course.

Can't get any more logical than that, right? lol!

Yes, but Deborah Fikes is not a known, anti-LGBT leader. Tony Perkins is.

As a so called 'homophobe' I never heard of the guy until this thread.

Known eh.

I thought he was an actor.

They should stage a die in at Liberty tower, where 3000 of their fellow citizens were murdered by people who followed the same ideology as the man who murdered their fellow LGBT citizens.

It's a question because by your statement it did seem that you think all Muslims are the same. If not then what was the point of your statement?

You said this:

The people you mentioned are a VERY tiny minority and do not represent Christians in the western world. For you to make the comparison in an attempt to apologize for extreme Islam is transparent and pathetic.

It is the same way with Muslims. Radical Muslims are a tiny minority too and do not represent Muslims in the western world.

And I find it insulting that you accused me of apologizing for extreme Islam.

The tiny minorities aren't even comparable. Even just 3% of 1.6 billion is 48 million. The number of Christians who even come close to that level number may be in the hundreds.

So in other words Christians "are a little better than" Muslims today because of the numbers?

I think you are only factoring American and European Christians. A lot of nasty things are sill done by Christians in East Europe, Central Asia, Central and South America, and Africa as well. Just because a Christian does not say they are murdering or raping in the name of Islam (which most terrorists don't even do) does not mean Christians are not still raping and murdering the world over.

I still think they would send a bigger message if they did this stunt at the WTC than Trump tower.

Christians are "a lot better"

Islam has been killing people since day 1.

1400 years of that BS.

No offence, just sayin'.

I like you man, but lets not get into comparisons. HUMANS have been killing since day one. Also, Nearly the entire Western Hemisphere was genocide, intentionally, AND in most cases in the name of God. There are still guerilla factions in the Congo and Uganda guilty of horrible crimes against humanity hiding behind a Christian name in some way.

So yes, Islam and Christianity actually mirror each other closer than most realize. More so than Judaism to either or.

Oh, I know you are an ally. My problem is with virtue signalling through using the privilege totem pole to shut down opposing views. Straight guys are more than welcome to have and express opinions on groups like ACT UP. If that wasn't what you were gearing up for then I'm glad.

I think it is important with examples like this to try to express to those outside of LGBT activism that tiny vocal minorities do not represent the whole, by any stretch. Painting this as any part of the barely-existent "gay agenda" is damaging to progress in seeing individuals as individuals, who aren't defined by race, gender, or sexual orientation. The regressive left are (disgustingly) pushing the once-conservative idea that all people are and should be defined by those things.

I became interested in LGBT because I worked at a company where I was the minority being a straight female. Water cooler talks were very enlightening. I just tried to educated myself. Then one of our co-workers got AIDS (and died). I kept reading. I liked listening to Michelangelo Signorile on OUT XM. It was interesting seeing (listening) to him evolve.

Anyway, on Michael's show I learned of different groups. ACT UP sounded familiar, and you sounded like you knew what you were talking about. That's why I asked.

I stand by my accusation, your avatar adds a nice piece of evidence for your support for fascism as well.
