Tetlin River Fire Near Tok, Alaska, Grows to 1000 acres

No evacuation orders have been issued but elders have been told to prepare to leave if the fire gets closer.The fire has not impacted traffic on the Alaska Highway some 16 miles away but temporary flight restrictions are in place to help firefighting aircraft operate in the area. The flight restriction affects air space within a five mile radius of the fire.

High winds and hot, dry weather hampered firefighting efforts over the weekend, DOF said.

Hot, dry weather in Alaska, which has had quite a warm winter and spring have contributed.

Firefighting crews will reach 200 by the end of Sunday.

Nobody is concerned in the AK about such a small fire. Add an order of magnatude or two and we might bother to read the story!☺
