Google is manipulating the masses. But I always believed that Google was benign in nature.
Autocompletion can be bought , this makes that function more or less useless. But what about the searchresults ?

So I started to compare the results from Google to compare with DuckDuckgo.
I used Results with subjects that aren't echoed in the mainstream. To make a very long and interesting story very short , Google is just mainstream agenda notting more. It's the invisible glue that is used to glue the lips of freespeech firmly together. If something doesn't agree with the MSM it is burried very deep in the pageresults. Kind of a schocker was it that Tesla was depicted as a madman. Lets assume that I know nothing about the man ,
On the first page I see the 'commercials' from Tesla motors and their wiki page. I can more or less understand that (everything is commercial nowadays ok) but I can't understand that there is no wiki reference to Tesla the person. Then on page 2 after some other after Tesla (the person) named produkts finally a reference to Tesla

Tesla the greatest Geek

WTF ??? Where is the wiki page. I mean is theoatmeal.com more an authority on tesla than wikipedia ??? A picture of Tesla a raving madman is that what google wants us to think ?

After a dozens of examples Go figure... Pageranking is manipulated and is also the footprint of Google.

Google says : Stay inside the MSM box and Buy the stuff we advertize.

Well , I remember another Google. This google is not a searchenigine at all it's a stealth search manipulation engine nothing more bye ,bye google.

Well that's my own conclusion and the questions I want to ask in this thread are.

At what level of deception would you as fellow ATS'er leave your favorite searchengine if the pagerank algorithm only reflects MSM views ?

Google "Don't be Evil"

as it hides it's horns under a beanie, looking like some hipster with a crappy whisper of a goatee, and it's wallet bulging with the monetary incentive to sway results.

But, well, google will be the global corporation of the future, making robots, building ai, selling you google dollars, google cars driving you, google watches watching you, google phones listening. google sneakers to help you count your steps and exactly where you went. and if you don't conform, google prison will cater to your stay.

well there was a group on facebook quite a few years ago called something like "why doesnt google find things like it used to".
I guess that page was created from a burst of frustration, but exploring that deeper, in some instances you can just get the feeling that google is giving you the run around on some topics compared to say 10-15 years ago when you were sifting through journal links and report links, now its just fluff archived out certificates etc.

I used to spent hours online putting in a word and then looking at images. Hundreds of thousands of images, from the horrific to the never known, to the amazing.
Nowadays you put in a word and you'll get a selected [sanctioned] couple of pages of mediocre and safe [even though my safe search is OFF] images that are just not hitting the spot.
Who decides what is most relevant?
Exactly. S&F for OP.

Nikola has him on page 1, and Nikola Tesla has his wiki right away. What's the problem again?

I noticed that too. I just thought it wasn't displaying certain images because I refuse to log-on to turn off the 'safe search' feature. It is kind'a nice not getting a porn flash ...
but, what if it's teh pron I'm really after?

Ah occamsrazor... So quick to judge and so dificult to understand. Tesla was just one example. The phasing out is statistical done on many keywords. People dont refer to nikola tesla as nikola but generaly as tesla hence all the products with his name. Tesla came up as first in google but now he is buried , and a crap page has higher rank than wikipedia. it's not about tesla but the overal trend in google to phase-out alternative results.

Not so fast. Last I knew Google owns Facebook, YouTube, Android, Picasa, looking at or buying(?) Twitter and a zillion others (I may be incorrect).

They have the market..and they have the most money. Therefore...love em, like, hate em or depend on em....they are gonna maintain the market share.

Therefore, we...worldwide....is stuck with them. At least we dont HAVE to use them....still...what they own that we all use is astounding.

Check it out yourselves..by searching onli--....wait...oh, oh....!

Probably because he is not as relevant. When people are looking for Tesla now they are looking for the automobile. The more they click through on those hits the more they move to the top of the search results.

Now look at the Net it's being cornered by every tom dick and harry in the business.

I don't get it at all.

Neither of the two " G " s in GooGle stand for anything good.

One is for G lobal and the over is G overnance. I'm pretty convinced we have O verloard, O mnipotent, L uciferian, and even an E vil.

When you type in Nikola Tesla, the Wikipedia for him is the first result. Google has also had a 'doodle' homepage on his birthday.

There was a recent ATS thread saying Hillary Clinton had bought and paid for google, but I didn't get search results that pointed to that.

There was another ATS article saying the Obama campaign somehow controlled Google.

Regardless, it is a business. Entries can be paid for that push certain entries up or down. People pay for adsense.

I have mentioned Duckduckgo as a better choice if google results are bothersome.

This is one of my replies in Eletric universe's thread of 6/10:

a reply to: ElectricUniverse In regard to the Google issue, I haven;t seen many results with hillary Clinton at all. Probably because I don't ever look. Google can use demographics, they can take paid spots to push other results further down. They are a business, but if more people knew, they might use sites like duckduckgo more often to search.

Google is still a good search engine. Certainly better than the uiseless Bing.

So you are suggesting Google giving search results that change depending on what people are actually looking for is a bad thing? Right now most people searching Tesla are looking for the car company, Google search reflects that. Nikola Tesla's info is still there, right where it should be based on search metrics.

Try typing his full name. In fact i just typed the name Nikola and the first result is his wikipedia page, didn't even need Tesla.
Tesla was not his name, it was his surname, Tesla is a brand.

So if you search for tesla you look for a car company?. I've no problem with that. But if results of a third rank site come above wikipedia I start to question google. So if one searches for Tesla one looks for a weird geek as most relevant result ?? Combine that with 23 other keyword searches I know exactly what google is about. Also autosuggest terms can be bought and have been bought by politicians. Google is not about relevant results it's about advertizing and manipulating.
Mark my words Google will be held responsible for manipulating the elections within 6 months.
