I agree that scientific investigation cannot be compared to an investigation into government conspiracy theories. Science is free to investigate and examine evidence...ordinary people are not free to investigate the government and often have no means to gather evidence.

That is the absolute truth.

Lets not forget that science can be bought and paid for by the government that is hiding a conspiracy. However you are correct if government are involved in hiding a conspiracy they are not going to investigate themselves, or leave themselves open to be investigated.

The Warren Report, and the 911 Commission Report are just two examples.

Yes I do BUT why piss on others journey to knowledge? I mean aside from seeming superior.

All the more so when the other folks involved are merely attempting decent civil dialogue more or less as well as they know how.

Though, of course, the "why?" . . . stems back to stock answer #1 . . .

RAD . . . fostered insecurities, brittleness, pride, ego etc. issues from the first 6 years of life.

And, as Marisa Peers notes in this excellent talk:

www.youtube.com...

5. "Do you know that critical people have the most criticism reserved for themselves? You are showing me and others how dissatisfied you are with yourself when you behave like this."

Maybe that's the more fitting way to respond to such prickly contrarian abrasive assaults. It's certainly chronically and typically true with only very rare exceptions . . . if there are exceptions.

Why not encourage critical thinking by asking pointed questions?

Uhhhhhhhhh Phage . . . you are more than brilliant enough to know that those are NOT

mutually exclusive

events--certainly not NECESSARILY so.

A pointed question wherein the point is designed to help dissect an issue toward greater insight is one thing.

A pointed question wherein the point is primarily designed to belittle, insult or trash the other person out of one's own insecurities or personal inner gritch or angst or whatever such . . . is something else and quite unnecessary.

I was of thought that anymore debate on 9/11 or kennedy was futile. The minds are made up, the threads already exist where the debates have taken place for reference.

A lot of conspiracies have been proven true and hence we don't even think of them in that way anymore.

Perhaps ATS could sticky a conspiracy topic for the week with a stickied thread. modded heavily to prevent offtopic/opinion snipes.

Most conspiracies posted now are garbage nibiru and flat earth. Or when it is a good conspiracy no one has anything add so it drops fast.

I for one and maybe others are still here just waiting for that bombshell UFO or NWO thread.

I think the current conspiracy unfolding now is the question of how planned was muslim migration and is it part of an end game for ww3 west vs Islam as the possibly real letter by albert pike stated it would be.

INDEED.

I think that's reasonably certain to be true. Certainly all the available evidence I know of points in that direction.

However, I've just grown weary of wanting to bother much with much IN-DEPTH attempts at dialogue over such issues.

Folks FIERCELY !!!!DEMAND!!!! a level of proof that they don't demand for almost any other area of their lives . . . seemingly oblivious to the fact that such proofs are INHERENTLY HIGHLY UNLIKELY to be available until 100+ years after this era. What an absurd thing to !!!DEMAND!!!

I agree.

And unless I am responding to ad hominem attacks, I do not engage in such.

I've tended to notice that.

That's one of the many things I like about you.

BTW, it's a persistent challenge to remind myself that your avatar is an actor and not really you and how you look like. . . . as far as I know! LOL.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else and I've been here for a short time only, but I've seen some "conspiracy" threads and many times they appear to be attacked for presenting such a position. That makes me not want to share any of my theories because I am not a physics or biology focused intellectual and so my ideas may very well be based on false reasoning, but there is a logic to them.

What's the standard of proof for conspiracies anyway? Do you expect film or video recordings? A confession?

It's like the case of a woman found dead in her bath tub a day before the divorce would be final and she would receive half of her husbands assets. Her soon to be ex was a cop and there was no water in the tub.

For years, there was an elaborate theory to explain that she had previously been dizzy and her head could have hit the drain pull and slowing drained the water after she was dead. After another police department was investigated, the husband was found guilty. True case....

People will believe any bizarre theory of coincidences before they would believe people in power would act together to cover something up.

Analyzing theories is fine but this IS site for people who believe there are things being covered up. It seems the majority of threads are being taken up by people who push for the theory of coincidences theory.

Many realized how pointless it's become to share any observations or thought that isn't force fed by agenda driven think tanks or the MSM.

Some of us/them started noticing who was being elevated... and who was being drowned out or deleted.
The trend as of a few years ago is that we "those that can think" are unwanted and quite frankly an annoyance to the beekeepers.

Many of us just said screw you then... and left most social venues that are now infested with the pouncy naysayers just itching to shut another scary thinker up.. inflame them.. make them mad so we get emotional then say something we normally wouldn't then we get removed and the baiters get a free pass (because they use careful guidelines that skirt the rules just enough to make it all look harmless.. but it's not)

Sick of traps
Sick of trolls
Sick of the Agency apologists
Just plain sick of it.

I've been noticing an alarming trend lately. It's almost as if the conspiracy theorist and people who are working on alternative theories to mainstream science, history and political propaganda have been slowly dwindling.

Is it just me or is skepticism totally taking over?

What happened to taking a step back from your emotions and views and opening your mind to alternative perspectives and theories?

Paid posters have run a lot of them off. Good job guys!

I took logic in college and ended the class with a 106% thanks to extra credit opportunities.

Logically, there is no such thing as 106% of something.

I might be one of your 1 in 10,000.

I don't post or reply often, or even respond to PMs sometimes, because I'm a very straightforward and even brash speaker.

I do read 90% of the new threads on a daily basis, up until the point at which the comments become redundant. Once every two days I give a star.

I listen to everyone and take everyone's opinions seriously. I tend to care more about facts, but these days everyone has their own facts and large groups of people and datasets to support any of their own facts.

I don't think conspiracy theories have died here. I think that many conspiracies these days are regarding society. Society easily proves and disproves these ideas all by itself. Of course, depending on the color of then lens of your glasses, one may see these as proven to one's own bias.

Few take the glasses off for long enough to remember how the world appears without that vision we have been told is perfect 20/20.

Having horrible vision myself (S 20/450 D 20/500), when I take the correction off, I can see things close up that nobody can. Details emerge that can never be seen with perfect vision.

This is how people are. Media gives us that perfect vision, but we forget what we can see as an individual without "correction".

People who seek the truth remember to give their eyes a rest from that correction often and to experience the world with the vision which we were originally given.

I suspect there are many like me who stay quiet because of the tendency to think some people are too much the fool to earn a polite response from this impatient one. And why try to correct a fool?

The truths I witness, I witness alone.
