Donald Trump is exploring a "mini media conglomerate" business to monetize his frequent appearances in the press, unnamed sources told Vanity Fair, though his campaign denies the report. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, already owns a TV-production business, according to the publication. But as his bombastic campaign-trail sound bites continue to win him airtime, he may be working on an outside project: a possible "Trump News" cable empire, sources told Vanity Fair.

If this is true....it's one of the most brilliant marketing scams ever foisted on the American electorate; using a presidential campaign for creating a media brand.

Even old Fox News didn't have the right read on what the base is," a person briefed on the matter told the publication. "And we do." Vanity Fair lists Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who owns the New York Observer, as a consultant on the project. But Hope Hicks, a spokeswoman for the candidate, told Vanity Fair "there are absolutely no plans or discussions taking place regarding a venture of this nature.

yeah right...

Trumps supporters were correct...he isn't a politician....He's the ultimate businessman. Long live capitalism and the entrepreneurial spirit.

I could never vote for Donald as a politician but he definitely has my respect as the consummate genius in the American marketplace.

If it's true of course....

Ted Turner did it with CNN in 1980.

The guy is getting more like Donald Sutherland in the film "Hunger Games" after he builds his prison wall to keep Americans inside; oops sorry - keeps the foreigners out. LOL

Hmmmm, Donald Trump - Donald Sutherland. What a coincidence.

I've been tweet his entire family the entire time that he should be producing his own news network regardless of what's going on to capitalize on the controlled narratives coming out of our MSM.

If ever there was an example of 'any publicity is good publicity' this is it!

He's a goose, but I admire anyone that has the balls to call it as they see it.

Turner ran for president?

I've gotta say, I thought he may have an ulterior motive for "getting into politics", but I never guessed a network. I assumed it would be a reality show. I'm pretty sure a network would go the same way his campaign has.

This sounds very logical to me. (Oh, and yes! Long live capitalism and the entrepreneurial spirit.)

Trump, like most of us, knows first hand how crooked, dishonest, and partisan our television news has become.

Facts are twisted like pretzels to support an agenda, and most of the the news organization executives are more concerned about whether they will get invited or not to the next WH press ball than they are about reporting truth.

Trump is on to something here, if this is true.

If this is true, he chumped out all his followers. You can't be president and have your own news channel.

Conflict of interest....www.scu.edu...

But in the surreal political climate in the US...maybe that doesn't make any difference any more.

I'm working on my "I told you so" banner as we speak. No PC namby pamby from this member.

Maybe this is why Trumps campaign is in total meltdown with his staff in open rebellion.

This could be somethings he is thinking about doing after he gets out of office, or, if he doesn't win the election. I'm sure he knows this can't happen while he's president.

BTW, BH, Turner thought about running at one time, but said with a wife like Jane Fonda, he wouldn't have stood a chance. But, he has always been political.

My idea of brilliant and others are obviously not the same.
Though it is a way for him to finally get some positive press. Even if it is false.

Are you really sure he knows this can't happen? Because he's been wrong about a lot of things already and one would have thought he should know those things too but he didn't.
Seems he pretty in the dark about how any of this works.

If he has already filed Articles of Incorporation and is on the BOD or CEO, His campaign is essentially over. This may very well be in the GOPs plan to dump him at the convention and bring in their neocon.

Now, that's not what he said at all, is it?

"I am very serious about running for President, but Jane doesn't want me to do it,"

Source

So, it's not that he wouldn't have stood a chance, just that Jane wasn't thrilled about it.

Or this? We're facing an emergency financing goal of $100,000

"Right now we're facing an emergency goal of $100,000 to help get our ads on the air..."

Funny in the article linked just below, he said

he doesn't need to buy TV ads when he gets so much airtime for free.

Which is it, Donald?

According to FCC filings he has already loaned $43+ million to his campaign. But according to this NBC quote:

When NBC News reported on that option last week, Trump responded by saying he had "absolutely no intention of paying myself back for the nearly $50 million I have loaned the campaign."

It's a good thing he is a billionaire, his campaign fundraising seems to have stalled, and I understand TV networks to be expensive.

That's rich.

What I'd like to see Trump do with this venture is launch another 3rd party. I don't care about the narrative; we can make up our own mind.

I absolutely agree! A third (fourth and fifth) party is what this country needs and if Trump is the person to start that, I support it fully.

And yes, people give the big, bad media too much credit for shaping people's views. When it comes right down to it, we can make up our own minds.

This sounds great for people who prefer their news steeped in racism and devoid of truth.
