who was it that supported the Pro European union protests in Ukraine to remove a democratically elected government?

Thats Russia fault to it seems.

It would seem your memory is a bit off. The majority of Ukrainians wanted an expanded relationship with the EU. Yanukovych told his people he was going to pursue this course. He then betrayed the trust of his people after taking money from Russia. That's what the protests were about.

Due to losing control of the people the democratically elected Rada decided that Yanukovych had lost the authority to lead. Following the law laid out in the Ukrainian constitution they began impeachment proceedings. Even Yanukovych's own party voted for his impeachment. Then before a criminal case could be started, which would have almost definitely discovered that Yanukovych had been stealing billions of dollars, he fled the country.

I don't know why the pro-Russian side continues to push this coup narrative. The Kremlin acknowledges that Yanukovych fled his post. They also acknowledge the legitimacy of every Ukrainian election since Yanukovych's flight from justice.

To be fair the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, or Afghan Socialist Republic or whatever, they changed their name a fair few times simply was unsustainable without Soviet help. Factionalism within the Party had alienated a large portion of the general population, as well as the extremely confusing, radically shifting policies as a result of political intrigue.

They had a lot of trouble controlling the Army, Police Force, Militia and Internal Security Service because of this internal schism within the party.

The Afghan Revolutionary Movement wasn't that popular to begin with, and their internal squabbling and bickering had done even more damage to their reputation.

US help probably didn't have as much an impact on the war as is drummed up in the West. Policy changes in the USSR led to the withdrawal, people were unhappy with the Government anyway, and armaments were in no short supply thanks to smuggling from China, corruption within the Afghan Military and the tendency of Pro-Government Afghans to simply abandon their weapons and flee from combat.

The Anti-Socialist Afghan Forces were not a unified force either, rather a loose collection of groups who fought amongst themselves as much as against the Socialist Government. That is made even more clear by the history of Afghanistan 1992-2001.

The Soviet Intervention in Afghanistan, just like the later US Intervention and Occupation, was just another chapter in an ongoing civil war that has persisted since 1975 until the present day.

I feel bad for the Afghan people, I really do. It must be horrible to be stuck in the middle of perpetual warfare. Can't even imagine it.

Is this all they have?

Their propaganda is running weak these days. Slowly we are becoming what we supposedly strive against. The Russian Federation is (our supposed enemy) slowly looking more of the asylum country for us poor little sheeple of the U.S...

How sad.

Russia knows what we used to be..Russia sees what we have become. Russia is sad that we are becoming what they have endured to lose.

We are losing. We still have a bit of respect. Not for long.

The majority of Ukrainians wanted an expanded relationship with the EU.

If your beloved majority of Ukrainians who wanted an expanded relationship with the EU. By all means they can go for it. European union is already falling part. Poverty and inflation keeps rising.

No one is stopping the Ukrainians from being closer to Germany or their Angela Merkel and party.

If Ukraine cant pay back Russia all the debt they own the Russians how you expect the Ukrainians to function as a European union member state?

What? beg and ask the International Monetary Fund for bailouts? and more bailouts? if Ukraine wanted to be another Greece then i have no issues with that by all means they can go for it.

Being an European Union member state will not give you jobs nor make your country any better. Expect for kissing the Germans and standing with Americans like interventions etc.

Yanukovych told his people he was going to pursue this course. He then betrayed the trust of his people after taking money from Russia. That's what the protests were about.

Yanukovych knew what was in for him. And Yanukovych knew what the EU was planning.

If those pro euromaidan protests and protesters were genuine and real why did we see images like these then? why did John McCain Elizabeth O’Bagy who lied about her educational told the protests America stands with them?

At least Russia doesn't send officials to meddle in their affairs.

Free from Who?

In the three months since the start of the Ukraine crisis, there have been countless videos uploaded to YouTube. But none has had anything like the impact of a video called "I am a Ukrainian". In it, a young protester stands on the street in Kiev on a cold dark night. She addresses the camera directly and simply. "We want to be free," she says - in English. The courts are corrupt, she says, and politicians are behaving like dictators. The video has had thousands of comments, with people writing from around the world to express solidarity - from Egypt to Kashmir to Turkey.

Who is Senator John McCain and his gang trying to pretend to be? GI Joe action figures?

Lol @ Euromaiden Press.

That article is at best speculation and at worst drivel, soaked in fantasy.

Btw, Russia going after Israel? Really? You do realize that Russian is by far the most popular unofficial language in Israel with about 20% of its population speaking it.

Why would Russia want WWIII? Most illogical speculation there is. It seems that they are really just taking a defensive stance while NATO surrounds them. Is this surprising to anyone? Who has started more conflict on this planet? Russia or the US?

I Went back on Youtube and it was a coup as the protesters were the ones whom seemed to have being armed and even had helmets.

The police under Yanukovych in Kiev were doing what they were paid to do and thats to keep the order at least they were trying compared that to the barbaric protesters who made weapons to hit police.

Now if protesters did what these protestors did in Kiev in America what would be called again? peaceful protesters?

Finally a good debate and discussion from you compared to my other thread.

Secondly when you go through threads dealing with Russia-Ukraine you will notice that even those of us who don't care for Putin don't even use Euromaiden as a source.

Also seeing something on youtube doesnt make it true. Can you provide a link so we all can see what you saw?

I am sorry, but that is too much, my stomach, can´t stop laughing.

If it wouldn`t be so sad, that some people really think that others would believe any of that crap, i bet from now on i never could stop laughing again.

I can´t wait to read tomorrows western propaganda news, maybe:

Uhm no and thats not what the article says either.

First sentence of the article -

SAN FRANCISCO – Russian hackers posing as the ISIS “Cyber Caliphate” were likely behind the hack of France’s TV5Monde television channel, according to cybersecurity experts who have examined the attack.

The key word is "posing".

Just dropping off a podcast of " Blankfort and Prof Petro on Ukraine, Nazis, and Hillary Clinton" That has the historical facts of what today is called Ukraine but that might be quite hard for any westerner looking into it . Its like trying to figure out the ISIS/Al-CIA-Du in Syria but it does have and show the shadowy hand of the Neo-Cons in Washington all over it . www.ancreport.com... Nuland of course boasted that they had invested around 5 billion $$ to overthrough Ukraine and put then against Russia . Puting and Russia was or must have been aware of what was going down and made the moves appropriate imo Playing the stale mate position without direct conflict is a smat move if you don't want to loose and that seems to be Russias thinking .

Truth is hardly considered pro Russian. The same could be flipped around and said to you if that were the case.

Not this secret phone call recording bs again... Please link your source where nuland is saying this.

Here is a transcript of the "supposed phone call" -
Ukraine crisis: Transcript of leaked Nuland-Pyatt call

No where does it say anything about 5 billion and nowhere does it discuss an "overthrow". That would be the Russian talking points.

Putin had plans to invade Ukraine and seize Crimea when Yanukovych fled. From Feb 22nd, when he issued the orders to invade, Putin said his decision was based on an "opinion poll" showing Crimea wanted to join Russia. No poll info was ever produced.

Whats ironic is the fact he only invaded Crimea / E. Ukraine. If there was so much animosity towards Russians, and with Putin saying he would protect Russians, why did he invade crime / E. Ukraine and then stop? That action alone destroys any argument / justification Russia has pushed.
