XX equals female
XY equals male

There are rare instances where:

XXX equals female that are a bit larger than normal females
XXY equals male with some feminine characteristics
XYY equals male with some supposedly aggressive male characteristics
X is female, though stunted in stature

There are even rarer instances of XY male where the Y chromosome is defective and does not initiate the body modifications in utero from the innate female body plan we all start with.

In general though, a single Y chromosome will trump any number of X, though a Y all by itself is not viable.
