Oh, Lordy. Such an abuse of statistics and facts.

For example, Brazil is not a developed country, nor is Mexico, Russia or Chile. So the chart “Homicide Rates for Developed Counties” should show the US as the top dog. Nothing to boast about, in my opinion.

It’s unfortunate that Americans people try to justify their crap record for violent gun crime. People need to take the OP with a big pinch of salt.

Here's some facts - shooting tracker
or
Mass shooting tracker

Sorry but there is an inbuilt bias which distorts the numbers. Please show the TOTAL number of homicides by gun. As soon as you apply a filter to any dataset you can make them show whatever narrative you have. In this case "look the US is not as bad as believed". Well it is when you look at total deaths by gun. Tough deal with it.

I live in Scotland, nobody carries guns, nobody needs guns, we don't have gun shops. Now there is no law against owning a gun you just have to meet certain criteria. The vast majority of people have no need nor desire for a gun. Even our police do not have guns except at airports.

Phone a cop over here and they will come to your house unarmed and without attitude well except the odd a-hole but you get a-holes everywhere in every type of work!

Well, "where I live," we saw the murder of a tv singer, the killing of 50 gays, and a kid eaten by an alligator all in one week. I used to think this city was safe, but damn this week has been ridiculously tragic.

They have fudged the statistics to make it look better for the U.S.

For example, the only mass death caused by guns in England are 1 incident where a farmer lost the plot and went shooting up his town. They say that 1 mass shooting is less than the U.S's 25 shootings.

But the U.S. has a population four times greater than Germany’s and five times the U.K.’s, so on a per-capita basis the U.S. ranks low in comparison — actually, those two countries would have had a frequency of attacks 1.96 (Germany) and 2.46 (UK) times higher.

There is no logic there. There was 1 mass shooting in England compared to 25 in the U.S but the frequency of attacks is higher in England? Where's the logic in that.

You know that during that time, there was 0 mass killings in Scotland. 0 as in none.
We did have 1 in our past but that was 20 years ago and was shocking for us at that time.
That's why we see America as the wild west, it's a foreign culture to us here.

all these stats and charts are a load of cods- wallop and will not saves lives.the more weapons out there, the ease to buy firearms the more these shootings will go on .if people in the usa are so clever with guns how come the killers are not taken out in the first five minuets then, fat lot of good saying you need guns for defence and the like if you dont shoot back,i was in the british army for 9 years and i couldnt just go and get a weapon from the armoury because some-one pissed me off.more control of guns and less guns out there is the only way forward.if you cant have less guns in the usa then you might have the brains to buy some bullet proof vests or find another way to save life.

Having lived in the USA for a decade, I can agree that the US is not quite as dangerous as it is made out to be. However, I live in New Zealand .... I am pretty sure I am safer her, baring earthquakes, volcanoes and Tsunami.

Because most of the people with guns are law abiding citizens and don't take their guns in places that say 'No Guns Allowed'

Guess where most of the shootings happen?

Don't get me started with that. The USA needs to adopt Aussie Rugby as soon as possible.

Rules, my bad.

Australia is also an isolated continent with strict immigration control and 1/10 the population density (USA 32.45 ppl/km2 vs Australia 2.91). Only one of our states has a less dense population - Alaska at 1.3. #49 on our list is Wyoming at 6.0

If someone is going premeditate to kill someone it is not going to be with a gun for any semi-sane individual. bc a person is going to try to get away with it.

A person who has lost reality is likely going to simply run over them with their car if they are in a rage.
Do you support banning cars?
If they are in a rage and have lost their sanity people are likely going to notice and perhaps call the police

If they have really lost it, we have knives, chainsaws, hammers, fist. Really though arson at night would be easy and low evidence. The grand slam is my opinion would be setting up carbon monoxide poisoning.

Crazy people happen. The end.

Overall population density is one of the most abused statistics when comparing countries, as far as I am concerned.

If you compare the US to Australia using population density to arable land, or urban density, you will find things far more comparable.
