Hmm...

As someone who was always fascinated by hooligans and their "culture", I don't think it'd be that simple. From my understanding, hooliganism is practically a sport in Russia. Which means, unlike hooligans in Turkey, who use knives and other cold weapons, Russians fight only with their fists. They are mostly young, in their twenties, who all train box, kick-box, or some other marshal art.

So, I think it would be rather interesting seeing the clash between the A team from England and Russia

Alcohol can't provide gum shields, batons and pre-prepared moves.

You have no idea the planning these football hooligans go to in their planning a good scrap old chap

And it is normally the best dressed out of them you have to watch !

Best dressed.? Look back at the clobber some of them wore in the eighties and nineties.
I remember when denim Dungarees, and Arran sweaters took over from Lyle and Scot sweaters, le coq sportiff tracky bottoms and Tachini trainers...you wouldn't be seen dead in them nowadays.

Some of the fashions worn by football crews were at best bloody awful. Some even started wearing flat caps and tweed waistcoats for Christ sake. I blame Eubanks for that.

Nope, they may have thought they looked cool at the time, but looking back. What a laugh.

Reports from the scene claim the Russians appeared to know how they were going to act as a group. That's the kind of preparation I mean.

. . . “savage coordinated attacks” around the city, disguised in English club shirts and equipped with gumshields and telescopic truncheons.

Roaming Russian fans approached the violence, which occurred before and after England’s opening Euro 2016 game in Marseille, with “military organisation” . . .
www.theguardian.com...

I agree a lot of it looks very ritualistic and sloppy.

This copper wasn't going to miss the chance to kick an unconscious man on the ground.

And here's a cheap and cowardly shot through the teargas.

That is the same as hooligans over here - they arrange a venue and meet up for a ruck. As they know they are going to fight, they have plans in place. So yes, it is organised - but not how i think you mean.

It is more a case of "we are meeting at such and such, remember the essentials"

Although i hate this sort of thing, i have to say well done to the Russians in the sense that if you are going down this road, gumshields seem remarkably sensible!

I would also say that in the 70s and 80s, English fans in Europe didn't make distinctions between other hooligans and just normal people going about their business - why should we now expect other nations to be any different?

Are you saying there arent organized groups of hooligans worldwide who train in lets say mixed martial arts and self defense, some even being instructors, who get ready, train and prepare for these kind of events? They like the thrill of a good fist fight, violence and some are connected and belong to extreme right winger parties, thats the story.

I think i may start my own soccer crew. There will be rules though.

1. No punching faces, someone might have a job interview or a baby's Christening/wedding the next day.
2. No Pulling Hair/T-Shirts.
3. No Chinese Burns or nipple twisting.
4. No Atomic Wedgies.
and last but not least.
5. strictly No come Dancing. Leave the ballet shoes at home. You Toe to Toe and punch below the neck, but above the bollocks or nothing.

God that would be so dull lmao.

Though you could call it the solo mofo elite

At least you'd have a catchy name to go with the mandatory orange wig and tamoshanter

I find it hard to believe Father's bring their wife and kids to these games. The risk of violence seems very high.

They have been lulled into a false sense of security by the way premiership matches are handled and a strange sort of chivalry that exists amongst most hools to not involve civilians.

You're forgetting the PC ideals of what is allowed.

1.You cannot say anything to make them cry.
2.If you do make them cry, you're a racist bully.
3. No one can kick the ball unless they're the most vulnerable useless team member, then it's ok.
4.No making fun of anyone on the team, if you do your license will be revoked.
5.You must be PC. If you are not you are simply not a valid member of society and worth nothing.

PLUS you must go through this #e before you qualify to run anything. If you do not, the PC Brigade will torture you endlessly until you abide by their twisted revolting rules.

The Russians do not mess about, earlier this year, in a Russian town, a 'migrant' 'tried it on' to use a British term, with a young Russian lady, the Russian men saw what was happening, did not like that much! so grabbed the 'migrant' threw him outside, and followed that up with a really bad 'kicking', the pity is, in the western part of the globe, now one is allowed to defend themselves, or others... (sorry, no idea if I archived that, too damn much in there already)

Nothing wrong with consenting adults keeping each other hardened ready for when there's a real emergency. In one unnameable football disaster it was allegedly the bad boys who stayed longest, enduring the pain to perform the final rescues.

Skunk Works mate. I've had a very stressful few days, and I've got toothache and taking codeine, which is mind altering for me. I'm just being wildly conspiratorial and suggesting Russia has allowed its hooligan element to go and make trouble as a long term friendly act. I bet gym subscriptions have gone up slightly following this.

Dungarees were truly awful - a lot of Boro Frontline wore them back in the day, always thought they looked ridiculous.

I never got the deerstalker hat thing as well nor did I understand paying about a grand for a CP Company jacket just to see it get ripped / slashed to bits the first time you wore it.

Or perhaps more accurately the local roid dealer will be rubbing his hands together with eager anticipation.

A lot of those Russian 'musclemen' will only be occasional visitors to the gym - mostly full of water!

I remember how that was. A friend got injured when he had to jump off a high wall to avoid a kicking. He was in town to buy some clothes, not get into a fight.

A roid truth thread is called for then. I'm pleased, and scared, that my youngest son understands the need for dense muscle. He could crush me with one hand.

I don't train in any of this myself but those close to me that do always have stories about strange, mutually respectful relationships with coppers training at the same classes.

Can I ask you to show a little restraint. Suggesting nipple twisting to those who have not encountered it is like providing full blueprints for a death ray.

Yeah, Sorry man, Should have came with a disclaimer that one....Only highly trained personnel should attempt this, And should only ever be used it when your fellow gladiator is a man....The Police Charges appear to be different when it's a life or death struggle with a woman and you bring down.."The Twister" .

Personally I think the level of organisation and the response from Russian officals means that there could well be something going on although given what a hooligan problem Russia has the chances are it's just a result of lots of practice in their country and the state condoning it rather than sanctioning it.
