The City of Philadelphia is gearing up for the Democrat convention next month.

Phili hosted the RNC in the year 2000 and made a few hundred arrests.

This time they want to make everything "easier" by just issuing tickets instead of herding people into paddy wagons and off to jail.

Perhaps not a bad idea, but maybe the organizations that back protesters will announce they will pay the fines?

Easier for the City and easier for the protesters too !!

Philad elphia looks to avoid mass arrests of DNC protesters

Philadelphia wants to avoid a repeat of 2000 when it arrested more than 400 protesters at the Republican National Convention, only to see most cases end in acquittals.

Less than two months before the Democratic National Convention comes to town, a City Council committee has passed legislation letting police issue $100 civil fines rather than make criminal arrests for many nuisance crimes.

The offenses include disorderly conduct, blocking a street and failing to heed a request to disperse.

So, they already have a plan in place to collect fines, perhaps from the same person funding the "protestors" (terrorists), and won't arrest anyone?

So much for the city of "brotherly love".

Betting it does not hurt they figure they'll end up making more money off all the fines they can hand out over putting people in jail for a few days. Lets see no cost of housing, guarding or transport. Just a bunch of tickets they can tack a bunch of fees and random numbers to, if they make them all pre-payable they'll bring in a far amount.
