I love nearly everything about the USA (exept calling it America when America is a whole continent lol).

USA has contributed more to the modern world as a Individual country than any other Individual country.

I cannot think of a country that i would rather be the most powerful.

Im not from the USA.

Indirectly the USA benefits my lifestyle more than any other outside country, that is becuase the USA has the most formiddable Military force in the world. I know virtually every Western nation can rely on the USA to protect them from Military Invasion.

If the USA didnt exist/have this Military force my own country would be forced to have a much larger military and possibly own Nuclear weapons to deter the Predators in this world. This in turn would steer billions from other essential services to Military/Defense purposes.

USA is like the worlds unpaid security company, and lets face it the UN isnt worth the paper its printed on any more.

God bless America. ( the whole continent

Question: Would you give up some of your freedom
(and amend your constitution), in order to survive?

A resounding YES.

But that's really easy to say considering the question "in order to survive"

I would do it just to preserve (roughly) my current way of life.

yes: for sacrificing some freedom (and amending constitution)

What if you have to give up say up to 75% (to put in quantitative words),
of your freedom (and keep only 25% of the historical constitution) .. to secure victory?

Would you vote a Hitler if your nation was under economic, political, religious stress? Chaos in 5 years, no hope after 10 years...but if you hold on, there most likely be a golden age abet after suffering. Politically correct way of ushering in the New Age...

For the poster that says people are denied healthcare in America if they can't pay that is untrue. It is not a true statement. No one is denied healthcare in America.

Interesting page full of thought out comments So, here's my 2 cents:
Good and Bad: We are the "hail-fellow fellow-wel- met". But, if you read Twain the term does not descrive the average "American" who is probably a pretty nice person but the sleezy politician and manipulator in the organized church and government.
We do have that marvelous document the Constitution; it would be nice if some of our national politicians had at least a casual knowledge of it together with a little respect for it.
Church and State, The Founding Fathers were mostly recently displaced Europeans and either witnessed first hand or were taught in history class about the sorry history of the church getting involved in government and it is a sorry history indeed. Christians in our fine country keep bleating that "Amur A Ka wuz founded up on Christiam principles while remaining ignorant that NONE of the first five presidents were professing Christians ...N O N E !
Someone pointed that we can drive 3000 miles, speak the same language, use the same money, eat the food and all without a special pass (government permission). That is one of the segments of freedom.
Another good point in here was that the current government is NOT the country. We change our King every four years (at least we are supposed to but once-in-awhile we screw up.
Gotta go now but I'll be back causin I gots me sum-more ta say on the subject.

I ran out of time last night but this topic is very interesting and I had a few comments to other posts by our fellow members and visitors.
James madison (someone quoted him) would create serious friction at the rate he would be rolling over, could the dead actually do so, if he were aware of one, our present govenmemt and two that we as a peoples have sat by and allowed gross incompetence and abuse of freedoms so hard won by our ancestors. Freedom is precious and is enjoyed by no where near 1/5 of the world's population.
To phoenix_cross = point well made.
To JediMaster and Gazrok I can't see the valus of anyone claiming that their country (ours included0 is the "greatest country in the world" especially by people who have not visited several, let alone many of the counties in the world.
To kegr sp? good point. The government is assurredly NOT the country or its people. I believe the quote is anonymous that "all that is necesary for evil is for good men to do nothing"! I believe our founding fathers would hold our feet to the camp fire for our acquiescence over the last five years.
To Fry2: Well done
To: Thomas Crowne: OK also but I disagree that religion is not a threat to our freedom.
To: FLNELKO (sp)? Well said.
To: ZeroDeep
Both Bush abd Cheney will both come clean on Monday....after the next Elvis Concert.

here's what i tell my family... i love america, this place is the best

here's the truth... america blows. i hate this place, and all the lazy people that allow people to become slaves to the system, they don't fight back, they know, yet no matter how much they see, they do nothing, they sit on their ass and cry about food shortage. but wait, we haven't a food shortage. how can people be bored! there is so much to repair, so much to reveal, yet we do nothing. i hate america. for destroying our will.

Thank you for your post!

I love America for many great reasons, but I do not like those Americans who claim America is the best country in the world without even knowing what the world is.

Best country in the world in what respect exactly???
Great landscapes and long roads? Yes!
Lots of work and opportunities for business? You got it!
The most ways ever imagined by men to get rich! Absolutely!
Can legally buy almost anything? For sure!
Best entertainment? Of course!
Home of the brave? Sure, just as any other country.
Multicultural environment? Yes (which makes it much easier for new immigrants)
Personal freedoms? Somewhere in the top 10 free countries. The exact place in the top 10 is not as important as the above advantages of living in America for those who immigrate here today.
The largest population of brain-washed zombies in the world? Now we are getting to unpopular side of American reality.
Largest personal credit card debt?
The most obnoxious sales people in the civilized world?
No unbiased world news coverage?
Hollywood?
Most mental health problems in the world?

I love America even though so many Americans are ignorant people who are plain lucky to be born in this country.

I am an American citizen, born and raised.

Sadly though, I have never left the US. I live within a couple hundred miles of the Canadian border, and I have never left
. I am, though from a lower income family (translating that my folks make roughly $50,000 added together). Most Americans are WELL aware of the hell-hole in which we live. They would be blind to not notice the issues our nation faces today. I am cautiously optimistic for this upcoming election. For those who have never actually lived in America, let me enlighten you from the stance of one who has never left.

Let me point out some of America's faults first (not that you aren't well aware.)

First, America has a violent history and disturbing. From slavery to civil rights, we have failed to stand up for what is right. We have hurt and crushed some of our own people and laughed while doing it. America is the home of the KKK and many other hate groups and is the world leader in ignorant fiends.

Secondly, we have "thrown our weight around" to get what we want. Often, Americans ignore the will of other nations for our own self interest. With the most powerful military in the world (and well aware of it) we will bomb crush and sweep aside all who oppose us. It's sad really.

Thirdly, we are unhealthy. America is a nation of freedom, but we go to far with it. We can eat whatever we want, we can do whatever we want, we can buy whatever we want, we can do pretty much whatever we want (as long as it doesn't hurt anyone...usually). In all, we need a solid whack on the head...we need to wake up, some, indeed more and more are beginning to notice the things I have noticed.

Now for what we are good at.

America is a land of hope. Whenever times do gown the hole, we have the right to change it (even though we have to wait four years). I am cautiously optimistic. We DO offer extensive aid to the rest of the world, we are world leaders in many areas of technological and artistic innovation. America is a huge nation with a massive and diverse population. Through this diversity we have the opportunity to compare and exchange ideas. Many of us are wealthy, successful, and powerful people. The most of which use their influence to help others. And lastly...We are well aware of our actions. And I would like to formally apologize for the actions of my nation, current and past.

Thank you for reading.
