Parents of a missing seven-year-old boy, who went missing in bear-infested woods on Japan's Hokkaido island, have admitted leaving him in the woods as punishment for throwing stones at cars..
Well, what can one say about the parents?,totally irresponsible and should not have access to children. In the US, in 2015, 41-year-old Nyia Parler allegedly left her paraplegic son, 21, in the woods in Philadelphia for five days with just a blanket and a bible so she could spend time with her boyfriend and faces an attempted murder charge.

well my original comment was a total misunderstanding of the OP, so time for a complete re edit:
seriously how do you think it's a good idea to do something like that as a parent, it's beyond me.
hopefully the kid will be ok and the parents will face some sort of punishment.
like being left in those very woods to survive for a week

Some people's actions astound me.. shocking..
There are many punishments they could have chosen... but leave a 7 year old child in a f ing forest?!! And one which is a home to bears!!?
What goes through these people minds?

Clearly sex does NOT equal "parents" in any sensible, positive meaning of the term.

Sheesh . . . what cruel lunacy!

Selfishness abounds.
Cluelessness abounds.
Meanness abounds.
Thoughtlessness abounds.
Immature stupidity abounds.

I hate government involvement in anything but it's stunts like this that make a permit to have children attractive.

OK, what had happened was the boy didn't obey the parents and let him out of the car, when they returned, he was gone.

As of today there are over 150+ looking for the boy.

It is sad what happen. Being here in Japan, I can only hope they find the boy. It still is very cold up there. His chances of being alive don't look good. Personally, I don't believe the parents.

Sounds good to me... It'll teach him some independence and self-reliance. I'm sure the media makes the whole 'bear-infested' thing sound a lot worse than it is.

Well the parents admitted to lying about him just wandering off in the first place, so who's to say they aren't still lying?
As the mother of a 7 year old boy..I can't even wrap my head around this. My son can test my patience six ways from Sunday..but I would NEVER, EVER abandon him, even for 5 minutes by the side of the road as a punishment. I don't care if he was throwing rocks at cars, or throwing sticks of dynamite...that is not the way to handle a child's behavior and we can only hope this boy is found alive, and either way his parents punished for their actions that far outweighed any misbehavior by their son. My heart is breaking for the poor wee thing lost in the woods by himself...

Bet he doesn't do THAT again.

Seriously, there should be some parental sterilization to start with and work up from there.

He's probably not even there, nor did they even take him there. The parents probably accidentally killed the kid, and dumped his body somewhere else....making the search focus in another area. ....but ...lets hope the kid show up alive and I'm wrong.

If that kid survives, he will be the civilized worlds youngest man.

Didnt the indians send their kids out for a week around that age?... or was that the Spartans?

As terrible and stupid as this is I can't help but laugh because of my past. When I was a kid, my brother used to have this big pink brontosaurus doll he called "Baby", based off of the 80's film about a baby brontosaurus. I used to convince my brother to beat the doll up because it was funny. For some weird reason every time he would beat the dinosaur up, he would have nightmares. I don't know why, he just did.

He would wake up in the middle of the night crying. It got so bad that my mom used to yell at him and threaten to drive him out to the mountains and leave him with the bears. lol So, as terrible of a story that this is, I do laugh because of my childhood. XD

That's what's called tough love.
I bet the kid won't throw rocks at cars again.

Don't know if you know this, but the parents have to pay the cost of the search here in japan.

This is a bloody outrage.

Honourless dogs, leaving a child amongst some of the heaviest carnivores walking the planet with no defence what so ever.

The parents should be vivisected while concious for this.
