I think he's right.

He didn't mince words when he suggested it should be treated as such, but one would have to have pretty thin skin to take it as an attack.

What kind of response is expected from people after reading the OP? You say the responses are "snide jaunts"(point out which ones) but at the same time say those who receive the comments as an attack must have a thin skin."

Why yes, I do have a problem, a huge problem. I have a problem with people that decide to focus on mundane issues rather than the more serious ones, you know like war, guns, violence, drugs instead of what bathroom is suitable. Really, I have never understood what the big deal is with this issue. It really is silly.

In some cases, yes - you can go by the technical medical term in DSM-V.

In other cases, however, I don't see it as such - I have friends from both sides of the transitions, and neither of them have any disorder. I do believe that if you're not comfortable with your body, then if you have the resources, change it. If you hated your car with a passion, and had the money to buy a new one, would you?

No-one's asking you to go out on a date with a trans, so I'm curious as to why you feel the need to tell them that they have a problem when their life isn't affecting yours. In a way, isn't that just as bad as a trans telling you to "suck it up, and bow down to me"?

Regardless of what they look like, they still have equal rights like the rest of us.

PS: And on the side - both my friends did see a therapist. The therapist put them in touch with a psychiatrist she knew, and both of them agreed that both my friends were sane, and that while they did not encourage them to follow through, they did say that if my friends were unhappy with how they looked...then they should change themselves. They both went through, and have been the happiest I've ever seen them.

Yes, AccessDenied is right, the Op should heed that. Also, should heed their advice about respect, in which the Op was not respectful. A rant about "too many trans threads" turned into a rant about a whole demographic.

Once again, what does one expect when they come at a community with a hostile rant? Yes, you might both not see it as an attack, but it is as much as what you claimed to be an attack.

In the Western world, for example, homosexuality is no longer considered a mental illness issue. Sure there are those who will stick to the past as to what they believe is right.

Though, when you come out saying as such it comes off as an attack to many. With that being said, what the OP believes is ignorant to many. It can be taken as bigoted comments. And no, it's not that I agree with all of the responses such as those in your answer.

Yes there are naturally gay people as for transgenders I dont know at the moment it seems to be a trendy lifestyle choice,which it isnt ,many of these people mature into people fully comfortable with who they are but its often not a pleasant journey who benefits from sexually confused children?...the answer probably isnt transgenders or gays but something far more sinister.

Transgenders are not cross dressers. What you describe has nothing to do with what a transgender is.

Transgender is the brain telling you what gender you are, and that gender not matching the physical packaging.

Children? Transgender is born. That means from birth. That means children are transgender.

What about protecting those children?
