And here I was thinking the whole time that Freemasons were a precursor form of Linkedin, where you got social networking contacts and references from other members so you always had a good or sometimes better job where you could help someone else out in the same way. In a kind of Members helping members way.

That of course is to the side of the ones in the scottish rites temples who help disfigured and sick children get the medical help for surgeries that their parents otherwise could not get.

For example a fictitious convo between to members...

Ed: He John, my nephew James is out of a job and down on his luck can we do anything for him?
John: Sure bring the kid by the meeting hall and we will get to know him and what he can do and see if anyone needs his type of skills.
