Dream of Mythological Creature with No Knowledge of it Beforehand

A while ago I had a fairly lucid dream that I was trying to infiltrate some sort of compound. A kind of military esque base, lots of gates and chain link fences.
I was quite surprised how few human guards there were and easily slipped past them further in towards the big building that seemed to be the goal. I was then halted when I came across an enclosed fencing, approximately five meters wide, a hundred meters long and three meters high.
Inside this run were two creatures that I thought, up until today, were two Griffins but some other weird dream version looks wise.

They had lion's bodies, big bird wings and sort of human faces with beards. They were walking slowly, side by side up and down the run, the ground where they walked smouldered and burned behind them.
I knew it was game over if they saw me, even though there were fences between us, all it would take would just being seen.

They were dangerous.
I got a sense that they were a unit and this was all they did. They were the ultimate guard sentry. Animal but at the same time, kind of... autonomous.
I suddenly thought "No way, that's it. Mission over."
And I woke up.

This dream was maybe from just under a year ago. Today I stumbled across information about The Lamassu and was quite blown away with the exact descriptions, not only visually but descriptions of their purpose too.
I understand I may have learned about them subconsciously somehow but I thought I'd share nonetheless.

Wow, that must have been one heck of a sight. The beings look to be a variation of the Annunaki.

They were pretty magnificent.

Pics online don't do them justice but this one's quite close only with a lion's body.

Their faces very much looked like this but with more of a lion's mane type of beard going on, not armour.

In my dream, I was outside the same compound you describe staring at the chain link fences and gates, I didn't venture past the guards or see the critters.

I knew to stay out, that place was dangerous.

Thats what those are. Guards. Very powerful. I thinks those are positioned around the throne of God. There are descriptions in Ezekiel and Revelation, and maybe Daniel. Probably the book of Enoch too. There are many types of angels. Some look like aliens. Some are described serpent like. You know, like Satan

Just wondering, when you were outside was the perimeter ground paved or grass? Were there buildings around outside like it was in a built up area or was it more rural, not in a city or town?

I saw guys outside the fence, they came around because I was there, we both got good looks at each other. They were military fit, but in civilian clothes. I wasn't snooping around to be there, like, I just happened by, it was okay for me to be where I was, just not any closer.

Those angels had flaming swords. There is a valley in Iran called valley of the Angels. Some think that was the original Eden. Thjere may be some ancient artwork located there depicting those

The place was isolated, dry grassland rural area. Inside the compound were a couple of small roads, cracked and potholed tarmac with high kerbed pavements, bits of dry grass here and there. There was a cobbled square in front of the big bricked building. More chain link fencing than seemed necessary. I had to make my way round to the right of the building because of it to a more overgrown area and that's where the Lamassu were.
I only saw one human guard from a distance earlier on. Thought the place was massively under-manned until I came across the Lamassu.

Haven't read the entire thread but you saw the Greek sphinx. And they do in fact viciously guard things. If you fancy a life or death riddle you could have talked to them.

Well the Mandela Effect is more to do with remembering things differently, not forgetting things.

Whether the head is male or female I still find it interesting descriptions are very similar between these creatures. I've never seen the sphinx depicted with wings before. Thanks.
