Suggestion on how to clear up the too many star, flag glitch that was exploited

Not everyone intentionally exploited anything to get millions of stars. It happened to me and I didn't do anything at all. It just happened. It was a glitch not an exploit.

There might also be an exploit though too that I'm not aware of of course. But I just wanted to let you know that it isn't that way in every case.

Now that I've read more of this thread I can see you've covered that already. So forget everything I've just said as it is information already in the know.

But I'm writing this anyway because I just like to type as much as possible for no reason at all. Ok. That will be all from me.

You could always just have someone go to your member page and go to the page that lists all your posts then go through them and star each one. Maybe even write a little script that would do it automatically and send that script to a few buddies.

You'll be there in no time.

Springer wasn't going all Gloria Gaynor on your butt. The stars issue is a glitch that's been looked at and can't be fixed. By 'fixed,' I mean there's no way to remove the bonus stars from people's counts. This is because there are too many members, hundreds of thousands of posts and they span years.

It would have been excessive, resource-hungry programming to have the site keep logs of every star that's given.

In the scheme of things, inflated star counts don't amount to much. I guess we could see them as gilding on the profiles of members who've been around for a long times - decorated veterans.

I'm posting on a phone and have no idea how many stars flags or applause. I have.

To be quite honest I came to this site for the content,I never cared about stars and such,perhaps you should play a game on facebook or something if thats your niche

The only issues I have with it is that it makes the interface less tidy. (The Karma score ends up on its own line, different to the line star score and WATS score are one.)

I thought it was a bug. I had no clue how I got so many stars.

This is the first I've heard of an exploit.

Doesn't a star make you invulnerable for a short time?
