ATS Messaging Blackhole...

Hey guys,

Um. Does ATS have a Blackhole in their messaging system? I have recently had messages to me gobbled up by SOMETHING...

Where do they GO when they misfire? Someone replied to me and I never got it. I was supposed to get 'applause' for the writing contest and it never came (hm. that could be Tenth forgetting or something), but seriously, its crazy making when it happens.

What else has slipped into the void? It's very disconcerting...

So - what's happening with that/why is it happening, and is there anything to be done about it??? Am I the only one??????? *envisions massive message-eating monster in the ATS code...gets nervous...reallll nervous...*

I have had some weird u2u.

Some not received both directions.

But it is intermittent.

The reason why you didn't receive Tenth's applauses is probably because Tenth didn't distribute applauses yet. My own applause count is still unchanged even though I had first place in the last writing contest.

I don't mind, I know Tenth is pretty busy.

Well that's one mystery solved. I've had other issues though.

The PM system is janky, as they say.

I've sent you two PMs as testers and want you to reply to them

We did have some problems with the PM system and SO worked them out.

Let's run some informal tests and see if we can locate the problem.

Hmmmm...

So it's not dependent on capitalisation. AboveBoard and aboveboard both went through.

With and without message titles went through too.

Yes, one time, randomly as well... I don't get tons of messages ( ) so I don't want to miss any.

lol! Seriously though, it did happen and it was seemingly a totally random thing...any ideas?

Monsters are the best theory so far, I think. Or they were abducted by aliens, but...whichever.

Ive experienced the same phenomena. IMs that just vanish into the void. Im figuring coding glitch.

Yep, me too, makes it impossible to communicate. We figured i'd be able to send a letter from here in OZ to the U.S by snail mail would be quicker. Donations going well i see

You know I'm just teasing you! My mail disappears too. Also didn't get 3 applauses for 2nd place winner last contest...I whined to Tenth and got one, haha....

I challenge these Mail Monsters with my dragons! If the dragons win, you will have HOT MAIL...okay, I'll stop.

Yes I relate 100 % to your plight.
And it has been going for a long time, I just felt silly putting in a complaint about missed mail. I thought I was alone.

I would just be economic with the use of them in sending, I would also not encourage members to send PM's either.

I was going to make a thread about this, then had the thought that you might have already thought of that, checked and sure enough, you did! Thank you!

For the record, my total count is three outgoing messages completely vanished, including from the outbox, and three incoming that I never received, all from three separate people.
