This country is just about to fall off the cliff, more refugees to come...

Venezuela’s opposition legislature has declared a “nutritional emergency,” proclaiming that the country simply does not have enough food to feed its population. The move comes after years of socialist rationing and shortages that forced millions to wait on lines lasting as long as six hours for a pint of milk, a bag of flour, or carton of cooking oil.

Looks like total big government failure.

Where's the U.N. when people need them?

America needs free oil.

Just watch how quickly America comes to the 'rescue' and signs a contract allowing America to own ALL of Venezuela's untapped oil reserves.

I don't understand how the government/leaders let this happen

Only once they've "officially run out of food" does this become a national Emergency? What steps have been taken in these many years to try to manage this ongoing issue? How did it get so bad?

6 hours just to get a pint of milk, still sounds better than DMV services here in the U.S.

This is why you shouldn't put all you're eggs in one basket! Venezuela relied heavily on oil and once the price dropped like it did, they were up sh!t creek

The UN is working on their climate change agenda and COP 30 or whatever iteration Agenda 21 is now. Once they have everyone docilely compliant and under their thumb, they can proceed to take other people's money to redistribute to places like Venezuela where clearly "climate change" has victimized everyone.

And that will work until they run out of other people's money on a global scale.

But then, everyone better hope we have gone out into space and discovered intelligent alien life so that we can start the process on an ever grander scale ...

The much bigger issue in Venezuela that has caused food shortages seems to be currency controls. If I am not mistaken, they placed restrictions on US currency in the country and it is harder for importers to do business.

Venezuela refuses to become part of the US-Big bank scene.

This is what happens when government controls the means of production.

That "Bern" the Venezuelans are feeling?

It's called hunger.

That's what government control of major industries and the means of production (Socialism) does to you.

We've already had dead Venezuelans wash up on our shores here. I guess we (Aruba, a small island of 100000 people) will have to deal with a bigger influx of economic refugees of a country of almost 31 million people very soon.

so socialism is a big hit in scandinavia, so that means it's great ?

cool, thanks for clearing that up

oh, and feel bad for the people down there, they didn't create this mess, the greedy leaders did.

"poor" countries usually have a dicatator with about a cool billion stashed away somewhere

It's a lot more complicated than just "blame socialism". But "socialism" is part of the problem.
