What context would that be? Earlier in Mark Jesus steaks a goat. Then he's hungry and curses a fig tree. Once the disciples saw he told them whatever they ask for will be granted them. So what exactly is the context in your opinion?

It doesnt matter Joe,
Just wanted to explain that you dont know what you are reading or understand it

I am content I have

I will leave it at that, please feel free to find the meaning on your own

but I also don't pretend that an impossible truth is possible

who are you to define what is possible and impossible with your very limited knowledge on the subjects at hand?

I'm a believer in science, not superstition. I've never seen any evidence of anything that takes a supernatural force in order to explain it. Who am I to define it? I'm not. Who are you to intuit that your fantasies should be treated like realistic possibilities?

thats funny cause science continuously becomes fantasy every day,

science once said....

never mind, just google science fact and theory proven wrong......

you will see science becomes fantasy every day.

almost sound you need faith to devote yourself solely to science

i was born in the 80s yet science has aged the universe billions of years since 1980, sounds like scientists dont really know what they are talking about all the time

The BIG difference between my trust in science and your faith in religion, is when something changes in how we understand the universe, science is really quick to admit it was wrong and adjust course in it's pursuit of truth. Religion tries to adjust reality to fit what it's ancient philosophical texts say.

Fair enough. Take my statement as "those who have faith in religion." I didn't mean to offense by implying you believed in fantasy creatures. I apologize.

Well that's your opinion. So it's only allegorical when it fits and it's historical when it fits and only literal when it fits whatever dogma you are believing in.

Now, if you want to talk about ancient aliens having a hand in the evolution of biological life on Earth and whether you have a "love" for them or not, then that's a different discussion.

Oh I believe in Yahweh's existence but I do not worship it, if and when I do pray I go above Yahweh and pray to the universe or infinite creator. Yahweh is middle management and kind of a prick if you ask me.

It's a bit strange
Yahweh is labeled a genocidal maniac for killing what would now be considered modern day Isis
Then we get this moaning because God won't intervene today

Silly really

It's not silly because intervening is not the same as commiting a genocide (killing innocent women and children who never harmed anyone).

God is intervening, there have been members who had visions of Jesus Christ and realized that they were tricked into killing people and so they left the group. That's intervention, but for some reason people ignore that God DOES bring visions to people to turn them away from their destructive beliefs that God wants them to kill.

And the god of the old testament killed women and children and infants that were innocent when he could have intervened and shown himself to them so that they (the ones practicing the evil acts) could change. Yet he choose to wipe out more than 2.5 million people instead. Hence I don't believe in the guy.

Yeah, frightening isn't it, justice is not fun or funny, it's no game.
Imagine the God who is capable of doing that, you want it hidden, it's in the bible, the book for all to see, everyone, God is not hiding his justice, not even hiding how brutal that justice is.
No excuses, no hiding it, no

Killed women and children because of their parents, destroying everything that imagines evil, swift and sudden, anhialation, genocide, it's all there, written in the pages of the book that we read about him.
No sugar coatings, no pretends, no slight of hand, no through a glass darkly

No hiding what is just so bloody obviously written
God destroys sin, destroys sinners, hates it, hates its presence

2.5 million, wait till the end when it's billions, billions of lives, billions

Sorry Joe, it's well known and written about.

That's my God, He hates sin, that's a lesson, something else you didn't learn

You don't want a God, you want a Buddha who's belly you can rub and have wishes granted

I will take God, His Son Jesus, I will do my best to stay on His team.
I read the consequences of not being His servant, not pretty

But you know that, you told me.

Justice? I don't think so. It was revenge from an evil God.

That is if you believe in fairy tales.

Interesting, what has changed in Christianity recently, where should we change our theology, what new revelation have we missed.
What reality do we need to adjust

Got Joe Canada telling me that Damascus hasn't been destroyed, well yeah, it's true, it hasn't...yet

What do we have to change, love to know

Only if you believe in fairy tails nah nah nah

Grow up TD

If you want to see it as revenge from an evil god that's fine

Opinions are like bottoms, everyone has one

I stated mine, that's all
If he is an evil God and His your enemy, that's your choice

I can't wait till God destroys sin, Thy kingdom come

I will because it was. Your God gave us free will then spat out his dummy when we used it. He also killed, which we're not supposed to do. Talk about a hypocrite.

Opinions are like bottoms, everyone has one
Did god tell you that?

How can a fictitious being be an enemy? It's like saying Santa or the Easter bunny is my enemy.

I can't wait till God destroys sin, Thy kingdom come
Hang on. I thought he already did? What type of rubbish God can't get it right the first time?

Obviously, I left off the sarcasm quotes there. My point is discussing religion as if it's a real thing is even more problematic than discussing space aliens. At least scientifically space aliens are a possibility.

From my point of view, you need to change the way you read ancient philosophical texts. Things that were written 2000 years ago as parables and explanations for things people didn't understand should not be taken literally and applied to actual reality. There is no difference between the bible and the stories of Homer. Do they have value for their wisdom and storytelling? Sure! Are they historically accurate and predictive of events in reality? Absolutely not.

religion is a real thing mostly cloaked in deception, in no way does that dismiss the idea of the great spirit
