The meteor entered at 04:50 UTC this morning and was filmed by the dashcam of a Portland police sergeant on patrol


And an officer in Plattsburgh.


Compilation.

Reports have been received of a loud boom but no reports of injury or damage.

The AMS has received 330 reports so far about a fireball event over Northeastern US on May 17th 2016 around 12:50am EDT (4:50 UT). The fireball was seen primarily from Maine but witnesses from Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Ontario (Canada) and Québec (Canada) also reported the event.

In the dashcam pictures you can just about see a building bathed in the lighting, (below the white arrow) on the viewing side, that makes me thing that the meteor was close. Just use your print screen function usually located on the right of your top layer of keys on the keyboard, that will save whatever image you are seeing to your computer, mobile or static. After that, you can use the paint in windows, first left click on the 'edit' option there, then right click on the mouse will give you the option to paste, left click on the paste option and the picture will appear. If you just want the picture left click on save, name your picture, save as a JPEG or GIF. as what works best here at ATS.

This might help then, I'm not familiar to Mac, but it looks like if you just want to capture a picture, the protocol is similar, with some more keys needed, although you can edit the picture as you go it seems.
