Kaelci sat by the water’s edge and gazed out across the shimmering lake, dully watching the faint mist that lingered by the fall’s crash, a silent despair coursing through her mind and refusing to depart. She had heard the screams of the silver witch, a pained “No!” that bounced across each and every wall of the dark caves before becoming swiftly silenced; she would never forget the evident tone of terror that had sounded in Sita’s voice.

She closed her eyes, wiping away a tear that dared to roll down her cheek, and slowly stood from the lake, moving her eyes over to the tower that they had shared. The surroundings seemed dulled, the once vibrant greens had lost their enchanting splendour, a dark aura hovered about the land almost infecting it.

The animals that had once resided in this once-enchanted forest seemed to have disappeared, perhaps having sensed the darkness that was spreading. Not a single bird chirped from the trees, she could hear no insects or the slightest breath from any creature. Apart from Darien, she was alone. Darien. Kaelci glanced over at the man who had restrained her, who had kept her from Sita, who had forced his memories into her mind and ravaged her thoughts. She did not resent him or his actions, she understood the years of rage that festered within him… she was much like him, back in “the other world” when she existed in the days of her old life… before she had walked through the enchanting portal and entered the Shedlands.

Silently, she shook her head. She would not think of those terrible days, she had escaped those days and that life forever and she would not return! Not in body nor in mind. She was a learning Magister of these lands and she would not fall into the darkness or the despair that was trying to overrun her!

Kaelci turned back around and stared up at the cave that lay hidden behind the waterfall, sensing Darien approaching her as she gazed up at the lair. She refused to turn and face the man, unwilling to see the return of his more likeable side now that Sita had been taken. With a determined edge to her voice she simply stated. “I’m going back in there and I’m bringing my friend back… I care not for your centuries old resentment. Depart if you like, be gladdened that you sent a wonderful woman to her doom if you must. I have this gift, you see… I understand things. I might not agree with the way people see things or do things, but regardless of the outcome, I understand them.”

Taking a step into the lake, she softly spoke her unwavering words to the silent man who stood listening to her every word. “Redeem yourself and make peace with that which fuels your hatred, or leave. The decision is yours.” And swiftly she dove into the lake and swam toward the waterfall. She could feel that Sita was still alive, they were sisters, they were a part of one another, and she would do everything in her power to make everything right once more.

I went cold turkey 15 yrs. Ago.

Found myself driving around at 1am. Looking for a nicotine tube !

Had a dawning moment ...

" You idiot ! ... you are driving around like a druggo tard looking for a hit !! "

Hence I did buy the smokes but I never opened them.

They were there if I ' needed ' them.

I never did.

I kept telling myself how disgusting the smell and mess was.
As well as the cough and finacial burden ...

I as a reformed smoker ... could go on ... lol.
