Do you, out of curiosity, understand what a transgendered person has to go through to get gender reassigned? I do, I've got a relative who has gone this route. Here is a hint, you have to convince at least two psychiatrists of the need.

Teens alter their bodies, and have done for generations. Tattoos, piercings, brandings, scarification, various other extreme changes. Hell certain ethnic groups out there do things, which fit the OP's descriptions.

Basically, stop sticking your nose into other peoples lives.

Basically...I'll stick my nose any god damn place I want to. But lets address your dodging response for a second. Teens have no right to undergo body modification surgery without parental permission. But if you approve of the idea of a child having their penis cut off, molded into a bad representation of a vagina and re-attached...please...for the love of everything, don't have children. But then again...you are probably of the mentality that if you slice and dice yourself you become something different. You do...but only on the outside. You remain what you were born regardless of the complexity of the disguise. It remains a costume and a lie.

And yes...I do understand (basically) what is required for sex change surgery. I just disagree that the right way to treat a mental illness is to alter the body to match the delusion. I would in fact...call it criminal.

You are engaging in a number of logical fallacies with your argument neighbor. You have to first illustrate that a great many teens are having this done. I dodged nothing, I stated the facts. You need PERMISSION to have the procedure. You also need (generally) money. Thus in the case of teens, your parents will need to be involved. Unless the child manages to gain emancipation from their parents.
All you have demonstrated is a poor understanding of the situation.

You are, as always, welcome to your opinion and welcome to tell me you disagree with mine. But it changes little. A mental issue is best addressed as such via psychology and discussion. To mutilate the body as a "solution" to a mental illness is bordering insane. Besides "transgender", I can think of no other mental illness that is "treated" by accepting the defect and surgically alternating the body to match the false belief in the mind. In the sake of other cosmetic surgery, it is just fine for a legal adult to do as they please with their bodies. But children are a different story.

In short...don't cut of your child's penis just because he says he wants it. Allow him to decide for himself after he gets through puberty and becomes a responsible adult.

Hmmm.... I never said "all" heterosexual men, and I sure wouldn't make such a presumption... but I also understand that one-size-never-fits-all. Just as I know that not all men are perverts and rapists, I also understand that some men are. I also understand that statistically speaking heterosexual men are far more likely to be perverts and rapists than homosexual men, hence my distinction.

Perhaps that's why I also understand that MEN forcing WOMEN to accept abusive and perverted heterosexual males into women's most vulnerable places and situations is dangerous and will not end well for many women and girls.

Stating by a person who never experienced what's like to be a transgender. You have no authority to place a diagnose over someone because you can't understand it. What you're speaking about 'having to change to feel normal' is no different then any other man or woman feeling they need to look attractive or do something to make themselves feel better ect.. it comes from self esteem issues.

You speaking about potential future things, not present. Trans probably would be happier but that's not the case. You can actually help drastically if the trans was helped before puberty. If a girl who identified as boy. You can prevent feminist features 'boobs, body development' ect.. and more masculine features.

and animals rob, rape, and kill other members. What animals do has no impact on the human race and how they run. Humans behave and think differently. We also don't thrive on instincts. You can't relate animals to humans when it comes to intellectual subjects or compare what they do to us. We know rape is immoral (most people) but animals don't rationalized that.
