why in God's name would you unionize unskilled labor?? I, like probably half of America, worked at Wal-Mart . Most people with a pulse could do the simple work required, but somehow they still manage to find ignorant morons that would rather not work to fill in as staff.

A union would keep them there permanently and every store would fall apart because the crap staff would never have fear of consequences since it would be Earth moving process to fire unproductive people who will subsequently earn more for less work.

A union at Wal-Mart? Don't insult people with actual skills and trades please.

Consider the demographic.

That is all.

What do you think the SEIU is made up of? The unions have been trying to get into Walmart for decades. 90% of the negative statements made about Walmart can be traced back to union sources.

So, the unions run the People of Wal-Mart website?

The problem isn't police calls.
It's walmart in general!!
Spawned from crone capitalism and lobbyists. It shouldn't have anywhere near this much local and government influence. Have seen walmart use intimidation tactics and other questionable methods to muscle into a community and muscle others out. These places are literally the underbelly of western consumerism/materialism. Prices so low even the criminals come to shop, then commit a crime or 2 on the way out. I'd bet there are small pockets of increased crime surrounding just about every walmart in America for multiple reasons. The local police server these corporations more than you or I.

Rape in walmart parking lots are very common. Source Once outside the doors you are no longer walmarts concern. Unless you lifted a 99 cent soda then prepare to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The exterior cameras are to catch shoplifters exiting not protect shoppers in the lot.

I believe this is the overall problem the article is trying to elude at.

Walmart already has private security, they don't have the legal powers of police and to do anything private security has to call them in. Security still has it's place, but so do the police. Personally, I'm ok with the police showing up to Walmart. I want to have police responsiveness in any business I may frequent (if I went to WM which I don't, but many do). Police aren't free.
