"Ask Me Anything" Threads -- Reserved For Invited Guests

I've seen a bit of a flurry of "Ask Me Anything" threads in the past day or so.

So that the concept of the idea of engaging invited guests via AMA events is not diluted by a menagerie of member-initiated AMA topics, we're going to have to enforce that these types of threads are for invited guests only.

Good. I have noticed a tendency for those to evolve into joke threads anyway. I do think they are a little on the presumptuous side........ I mean, seriously? There are some massive egos around here.

While im sure some are very interesting and worth a look others arnt and dilute the authenticity of major invited guest threads.

Its a tough call but a good one. Thats why you're the boss SkepticOverlord.

This is a bit off-topic, but is the staff open to having AMA's with individuals that members have connections with, that the staff and owners may not? Of course, the subject material would apply to topics discussed on this site.

From now on, members can call their threads "AMATAMA."

Good to hear it! Especially the "I'm Beelzebub ask me anything" thread? Come on! It's insulting to the ACTUAL professional people that devote there time to talking to ATS members. Thank you for bringing the crack down!!

What is an "AMA" exactly; "I know everything about everything; ask me" and does it involve anything to do with "Gnosis" (or too many spirits imbibed at post time #7 feature horse race) or just a selfless in YOUR face [Suicide mission accomplished by Others] egotism in play? Apologies in advance. Seems to be a self flogging accepted using others as the whipping words/admonishments.

I know HUGE to grok "AMA" I was serious btw (no idea what it meant) American Medical Association was my first thought 'what have they done now!' (SCARY).
