there was a thread here called the ATS grimoire? or something like that. Fantastic resource, use the search function.

Or search for magic spells, it's been covered here in years past and pretty thoroughly.

Not so much a rabbit hole and more like a bottomless pit..
You need to speak to someone experienced in the art, and do plenty of research before even attempting it.
I can't give you the right advice in such a short post and would be wrong to do so as would be encouraging you.
Please though piper, some people see it as a joke or a bit of fun and it s honestly you can get yourself in trouble if you don't know what your doing.

As said above I do remember seeing a couple of good threads on the subject here before.
Also Google will give you a lot of information, although cross reference what you read and check the sources because there are some bad people out there.

The best author to start with, imo, is Israel Regardie.

I ask because so often in these threads people talk about things going wrong but never any examples and real events are given.

I don't doubt what you say but I'd like to hear some real stories/reports.

I am a good example of what happens when you choose not to heed the advice of those that tell you to be careful when diving head first into the world of "magic"

Regardless of what people may think magic is real, there are so many things we do not understand about the universe and those that discount our abilities with little or no evidence to back it up are missing out in my opinion.

I always like to say that magic is achiving ordianary feats though extra ordianary means, you will be unlikley find the answers in books or spells, manipulating the universe is something that is done from within and cannot be taught only learned.

I spent many years in a relationship with what you could call a witch and have many friends who could be described the same, not the silly robe wearing folks that wave silly little wands they bought in a shop or wave amulets around spouting silly made up fancifull "spells" but people who really do have the ability to manipulate the world around them.

I chose to ignore their advice and took it upon myself to figure it out for myself and it seriously screwed me up for quite a few years.

Looking back it was a really traumatic time but without it I would not have learned what I did albeit the hard way.

I've been living under a spell for 37 years. Was just one year old when she caught me.
It's for her benefit. I'm just the one who is trapped in it. I've given up on the idea of breaking free.

It depends which type of magick you are practising.
There are many different types.
You are essentially altering events using mysterious or supernatural forces.
Some magick involves working with spirits and demons, sometimes you make deals with them, which you must keep your side of.
Working with spirits/demons though is not like what you see in the movies but someone who doesn't know what they are doing, can be influenced negatively by these entities. It can also bring out the darker side of someone's personality and cause unhealthy obsessions.
One of the biggest mistakes is people opening the door and not banishing them when finished allowing them to influence ones life.
Obviously most will not even consider working with demons which Is wise, but they can trick you into believing they are something they are not.

Either way, whether working with spirits/demons or working with basic magick spells, you are still working with mysterious forces that need to be understood.
When you manipulate the world around you, there can be consequences.

I once used 'vivid imagination' (described in 'The Secret' book - a bit silly) to make something happen... It worked incredibly well, may have been a coincidence but it worked perfectly.

Do you think I will feel 'reverberations' from this in time to come?

Magic is just creative and fun ways of announcing intention, just be careful how you word things and remember that you get back what you put out there, so be kind.

Lol, it was about 10 years ago and all in the past now, Too much to go into detail but there is a reason many people reccomend following a certain path as opposed to going your own way!

I bit off more than I could chew and found myself doing things without even realising and went a bit(lot) insane because of it. It took me a long time to be able to put my mind back into something that could survive in the "real world" as once you start seeing things as they are then a lot of mundane stuff seems utterly pointless when you look at the big picture.

We all have within us a greater self that is kept subdued most of the time and for good reason, utilised properly it can be benificial but let loose with no control it can be a pretty dangerous thing. I might go into detail in a thread at some point but right now is not the time.

Anyone looking into this should think carefully about the story of pandora's box and then think about it some more.

It is the same as learning anything new, if you start learning chemistry you should start off small and not just start mixing everything togther to find out what happens and then later while waiting for your eyebrows to grow back wishing you had started off small and worn some goggles.

A question if I may?

Have you ever thought that you were something more than the self that your conscious leads you to believe?

As I said earler I do not think that this is something that can be taught only learned but within most of us there is a greater self but how you access it is up to you. To me it is the mighty man and I find him by meditating and searching for the sound of a rythmic drumming in the distance that becomes louder and louder the more I search. It is the Mighty man that can do the things that "you" cannot. Look for him, maybe see what he can do.

This is a different thing altogether.. And yes it does work incredibly well if you do it right.
Remember there is no such thing as a coincidence, everything that happens is a series of events influenced by something or someone.
The secret whilst being commercialised and a bit glossed up does have a basis in something believed by many ancient cultures.
I personally have used techniques such as these to amazing effect.
They can sometimes be simply the psychology of making a 'goal' and subconsciously working towards that, but can also be other mysterious forces in effect.
If your intentions were pure then you should feel no ill effects of using such techniques and I would even encourage such practices.
If you are interested in this type of personal development than there are many good books you can read, a good starting point would be think and grow rich by napoleon Hill, you will find this for free on the Internet.

I know people will rubbish these type of techniques but those are probably people that have never tried or don't understand it.
You are essentially working with energies here which can take time to manifest.
Your goals need to be realistic as well, don't start with a massive goal, start with smaller goals which will help work toward your ultimate goal.

A quick experiment you can try, close your eyes and ask your higher power, I call it the universe. To give you something you desire within 48 hours, try to feel it and the excitement when it manifests, believe it will happen and I am sure something unexpected will manifest for you.
